Route Description:

Organisers Instructions:
EVENT NOT ON SALE YET. DETAILS TO FOLLOW WHEN WE HAVE THEM. The race details below are from last year, this will be updated for 2021 in due course. This race has been named in honour of its original creator, the late Maurice Mullins, one of our ultra running pioneers.

This route, is a new route, post Covid-19, from Lough Tay (Pier Gates, new car park) to Crone wood (yellow barrier) and back. 11k out, 11k back.

The start time is 9.30am. There will be an early start at 9.00am for runners. Early starters would typically be >160% of a winners time in an IMRA race. The race director reserves the right to adjust finish times for early starters to at least 160% of winners time.

MANDATORY KIT is showerproof jacket must be carried/worn during all IMRA events. Entrants should make themselves familiar with IMRA covid-19 guidelines which includes the mandatory use / carrying of a buff/face mask. And, wearing a visible race no. If this is your first IMRA race a race no. will be given out to you at registration.

Chip timing is NOT being used.

Runners should always follow the Wicklow Way. The standard WW yellow markers refer. Additional marking will be implemented near the start/finish as this is new to the Wicklow way and signage has yet to be erected No short cuts allowed along the Wicklow way e.g. above Crone wood.

Optional kit. If its a warm day carry some water, aim to be self-sufficient in that respect. There is no Aid Stations on the route. We will have a LIMITED supply of water at the turn around point at Crone Wood. Only take water here if you need it. Runners should bring their own collapsible cup / drinking bottle and can self-serve themselves with water. If its a hot day the supply could run out so again I'd suggest that a runner be self sufficient if you would normally need water on a 20+k run.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
