Route Description:
Race is c.10.5k. Starts at 12:00 Starts at gate instead forest - X on the map marks the spot. Run follows trail towards wall. Go through wall and ascend Annagh on left of wall. Heavy growth during summer has reduce this trail to a single track up. At the top of the wall, go through gate, turn right and cross fence (make-shift stone stile).. Follow ridge out along Annagh hill. The wall is your hand-rail on your left on the way out. Race is essentially a ridge run out and back. At the end of the ridge (circa 3.5k in) there is a break in the wall (will be marked/marshalled), veer left through the gap and a nice downhill towards the end of the hill follows. At the end of this track it veers right into the forestry and emerges out onto the fire road. Cross the fire-road and enter grassy track on far side which leads to a very sharp short descent. Sharp turn right onto forest track leading right onto fire road rising gently to meet main fire road, veer left. Almost immediately, veer right to follow wall steeply up (wall on your right hand side). This brings you up to the ridge. Turn left and ridge run back along the way you came earlier. This time the wall is your hand-rail on your right. At end of ridge, sharp left and follow technical trail that descends all the way down to finish line at Ballythomas.

    Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
