Route Description:

Start is in Deerpark golf course car park. The race will start at the back of the car park near the hotel with around 100m run before you have a sharp right and left turn along the side of the hotel bar. 50 metres later and you are on the lap at the foot of the Deerpark climb.

The lap is a figure 8 comprising the Deerpark loop and the Shielmartin loop. All runners do the first half of the Deerpark loop in a clockwise direction and then either one or two laps of the Shielmartin loop (it starts with a steep climb) in an anti-clockwise direction. Seniors do 2 laps and Juniors 1 lap. After Shielmartin, runners finish the second half of the Deerpark loop in a clockwise direction.

The underfoot conditions are slippy and rocky especially on the descents so you need to take considerable care.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
