- Competitors must use their map and compass to find a set amount of controls. A list of 6 figure grid references and control descriptions will be given out at the start. Competitors transfer these grid references onto their map. Controls are generally features on the map like Crag, Stream bend, track junction or summit being examples. Don’t be too worried about having to get the grid references from a list onto the map as a Master map will be showed 5 minutes after the start and controls can be double checked. Route choice is the name of the game. Most controls can be reached by tracks and trails but the cross country route might be much shorter but not necessarily faster. Corse will close at 15:00 at this point you should think about getting back to start /finish asap or ring the RD to let us know you are ok and where you are. Mor info to follow during the week

Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
