Competitors must use their map and compass to find a set amount of controls. A list of 6 figure grid references and control descriptions will be given out at the start. Competitors transfer these grid references onto their map. Controls are generally features on the map like Crag, Stream bend, track junction or summit being examples. Don’t be too worried about having to get the grid references from a list onto the map as a Master map will be showed 5 minutes after the start and controls can be double checked. Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
