Getting There:

Take road for Corraby Gap from Bunclody. Turn for Nine Stones at Carroll mom's Crossroad

Organisers Instructions:

Start/Finish: Nine Stones Blackstairs 817546 Map required East/West 25k series Blackstairs. Just to clarify nav challenge events. They are designed mainly for runners interested in doing events like The Mourne Marathon or the rogaine. The short course would suit anyone in trying out such an event. They would not suit anyone interested in sticking to tracks or younger juniors.

Safety: The emergency contact number is on the back of your number (call only, don't text). All runners must report to the finish line to avoid an unnecessary search. Courses are on remote open mountain with rough terrain. Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn. Runners must carry a fully charged mobile phone. Consider additional kit above the mandatory kit based on your own requirements and weather conditions on the day.

Navigational Assistance: Due to the nature of the race, GPS or other forms of navigational assistance are not allowed in order to remain competitive. However, if you are navigationally challenged, you are welcome to team up with another runner but must stay together. If you need to use GPS or phone sat nav to relocate you need to declare yourself as non-competitive at the finish line.

Inspection of a master map to check correct transfer of grid references will be available at start after a suitable delay. Be sure to check "out of bounds" and "map correction" notice at start.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
