Route Description:
Main Race The race starts beside the main car park and goes east along a gravel road for about 300m then turning left through a gate onto a single track that continues north just inside the Demesne boundary. Follow this single track through the forest for a bit more than 1k until you pass through another gate that leads out into a field. Follow the track around the perimeter of the field, passing straight through another gate before joining the Little Sugarloaf Trail. This is where the proper climbing starts. Turn right and follow the trail uphill to the south side of the Little Sugarloaf. (JUNIOR MARSHAL turnaround is halfway up this hill). Before the trail starts to go downhill turn right and continue north to the top of the hill. This is where the path gets narrow and technical. Continue over the top of the Little Sugarloaf and down on the north side. After descending the single track you will turn right onto a gravel track that contours back around the east side of the hill. After about 500m on this track turn right onto a steep uphill track that zig-zags up to join another track, which then continues south before re-joining the Little Sugarloaf Trail that you came up. Turn left and downhill, through two gates and across the field. Retracing the route back around the perimeter of the field and back into the forest the way you went out. Junior Race (5km, 120m climb) The junior route follows the main route for 2.5km, as described in the main route and where a marshal will be located. From this turnaround point continue back along the main route to the finish line at the Walled Garden. A full description is given below. Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
