Route Description:
Distance: 6km Total ascent: 300m ***Note race changes due to diversions on route *** Start above barrier on hill climb at southern end of seafront (Bray Head end). Follow way markers (green arrows) and tape towards cross. Halfway up through the trees the path forks: take the right fork to follow the way marked path and approach cross from the west. There are trails in all directions on this part of Bray Head. Make sure to look out for and follow the tape to the cross. Climb through the rocks to touch cross (failure to do so is a DNF). Continue south towards large first gate, on route to southern summit. After approximately 1 mile along the trail head enter the next small pedestrian gate (will be well marked and marshalled). Turn immediately right over boulders. Follow tape. After another 150/200m the path drops for a couple of hundred metres to the left before taking a sharp right back up towards the fence. Follow obvious trail to next marshall at bottom of trig point climb. Stay left and climb to trig point before returning to marshall to exit second small pedestrian gate on left. Turn right 100m after gate exit (obvious trail), back towards sea and follow trail head back the way you came. Approximately 150m before the cross, the path veers left towards the golf club. Follow this downhill (again, will be well marked) before taking two right turns to head back towards the way you ascended Bray Head, just below the final climb to cross. Take left turn to return to start/finish by same route as ascent. ** Junior Route** (short route at 2.5km) Follow main race to the cross then turn right towards golf club and then right again into trees and back down to start along main route. To avoid juniors running down against main field coming back up, the junior race will begin 10 mins after main race start

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
