Route Description:

This is an extension of the old route, and was first used in the 2010 race. The race now starts near the lower Ballinastoe car park and joins the Wicklow Way in Ballinastoe forest near the old start point. Please also note that you must stick to the Wicklow Way when you are on it - no shortcuts are allowed. The route no longer takes the short cut after crone woods up towards the An Oige Hostel, but instead remains on the Wicklow Way through the entire Glencree area. This has the affect of increasing the length of the race to about 25km, and adding about 200m of extra climb at the start.

A Google Earth KML file of the route is available here. If you have Google Earth installed on your computer you can download this file and use it to explore the route.

Organisers Instructions:

This race has been renamed in honour of its original creator, the late Maurice Mullins.

Please note that the entry fee for this race will be 20 Euros. If you have not run any other race this year then you will also have to pay the 10 Euro IMRA annual registration fee. Please pay online using MyIMRA. NOTE - ONLINE ENTRIES ONLY FOR THIS RACE. NO REGISTRATIONS ON THE DAY.

ENTRIES NOW CLOSED. Registrations close on March 20. STRICTLY NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS.

There will be no sign on available at the race start itself. The cost of the event includes a contribution towards the hire of a bus from the car paqrk to the race start (Which is why the half race is more expensive than the Ultra). Online entry guarantees your seat on the bus

PLEASE NOTE FOR 2016 - There is no parking available at Johnnie Foxes - parking will be at Leopardstown race car park (just off the M50 at junction 15). You will need to register here and collect your race number (if you dont have one already). There will be a bus to the start at Ballinastoe. Please note that there will be no parking available at Ballinastoe - it is expected to busy with a full car park from regular users. At the end of the race, there will be a shuttle bus service from the Glencullen Golf club back to Leopardstown. The finish line will be at the Glencullen Golf club - a few hundred meters past the old finish line outside the GAA club.

There will be cut off times imposed for this race. These will be:

  1. Crone Woods Car Park: 14:45
  2. Curtlestown Car Park: 15:30

Kit Requirements: A raincoat will be required to be carried by all runners.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
