All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions etc., and clearly advised at Registration.
You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required.
Failure to have the required items may lead to you being denied entry to the race, or disqualification. Random checks may be carried out.

- Getting There:
- Take turn off N11 motorway at Kilmacanogue (towards Roundwood). Take right turn after 800m for Powerscourt Waterfall. The Crone Woods car park is on your left, around 800m beyond the waterfall entrance.

- The route is a counter-clockwise loop over Maulin. The race start is the barrier at Crone Car park, with a short section on wide trail before turning up into the woods, and then up the side of Maulin. From the summit there is short section on a rocky path to the gap in the wall and left onto the Wicklow Way, with a descent on trail down past the Powercourt Waterfall overlook and back to Crone car park for the finish. The course will be fully marked.
In addition to the "Level B - Standard" mandatory kit, all runners must have a torch suitable for running at night - preferably a head torch. A back-up torch, or spare battery, is also recommended. Please review the mandatory kit list for this race and bring all of it with you on the night. The mandatory kit list required to be carried for the race will be advertised at registration on the day. You must carry this kit for the entirety of the race. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the race. Note that for safety reasons, headphones are not allowed during the race. Please note that junior runners age 16 or older (i.e. in the U18 category) in 2024 can run Younger runners cannot participate and there is no junior course for this event. More info on the Junior runners policy is here: Junior runners
As this race is under 8 km there is no early start.
What to do on the night:
Please car pool as much as possible, co-operate with the parking marshalls and do not obstruct residents’ or emergency access.
Arrive in good time. Registration will be open from 6:45pm to 7:45pm and the race will start on time at 8:00pm.
You need to sign-in at registration and register your chip at the laptop desk. Please sign-in first, then collect your number (if it is your first race of 2024), then proceed to the laptop desk to get your chip registered and scanned. If you have a chip from previous years, please bring it with you for reprogramming. Your chip is re-usable for this year and future years, please retain it for future races and future years. Replacement numbers or chips will be charged at €5 payable online.
Please make your number clearly visible on the front of your chest. Do not wear it on your shorts, as it cannot be seen easily by the finish line spotters. If you use a race belt for your number, please ensure that it is facing frontwards when crossing the line. Fix your timing chip on your shoe laces. Anywhere else and it will not register on the timing mat. Cable ties will be provided at the chip-desk.
If you cannot finish the race for any reason, please let a volunteer know. Otherwise we could be out on the mountain for a while looking for you. The RD can be contacted by calling (not texting) the emergency phone number on the rear of your race number.

Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
