- NEW ROUTE
Race registration will be Castletownbere Town Centre.
This year the race will start outside the town on the Derrintaggert Road, just past the Old Bakery Restaurant.
You will follow the Beara Way walking trail as far as the fire road where you will turn right down the fire road following the Beara Way markers for Eyeries. At the bottom of the hill, turn left over the foot-bridge following the Beara Way markers for Allihies. Once you cross the second stile, you will begin the ascent of Knockoura Mountain. You will leave the Beara Way and continue to the summit. From here, follow the markers North for the descent back onto the Beara Way walking trail and follow the trail back towards Eyeries.
PLEASE NOTE - you must follow the markers as far as the forestry gate before you begin the ascent of Mish Kish mountain - there will be a marshall here. Continue to the summit of Mish Kish mountain and follow the markers west for the descent back onto the Beara Way walking trail, cross the stile and follow the Beara Way back to the race finish at Castletownbere Town Centre.
This is a fantastic open mountain route with some wonderful sea views from start to finish.

Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
