The buzz went around Glendalough when Paddy O Leary's yellow van rolled up to the Upr Lake Carpark Those students new to mountain running were wondering what was going on and were informed by Ruairi Long That Paddy was attempting to record the fastest time for the Wicklow Round .Then the questions what is the Wicklow Round after hearing all about it they all proceeded
to their own challenge up Camederry
The numbers were up this year and the universities represented were up so all points good for the future of this race largely to the enthusiasm of the Longs and Laura Brennan from IUAA
Andrew O Donnaguaile NUIG defended his title in style like he did on the Carrauntoohill Classic in 2018. He could well feature in the European mountain running championships team but alas another sport has him signed up.Niall Mc Carthy of UCD battled it out with Harry Kearns of UCD for the other podium positions.
Kate Mc Donald from UL Kate a member of the famous MC Donald mountain running family from Laois took the gold in the women's section from Roisin Long from UCD took the silver she is also a member of a famous mountain running family Clodagh Moran of UCD took Bronze her family also has big involvement in orienteering.
The weather was fine but with a chill wind blowing a huge thanks to all the volunteers Tommy Mike Brendan Luke Noeleen Clodagh the biggest challenge to keep this race is getting the correct date so many commitments for the students but onwards und upwards
