Peter O'Farrell | Jun 25 2012, 4:36pm | Results are up as a report on the event tab of this race. Thanks to all who came and enjoyed the hospitality of the Festival of the Mountain in Lovely Laois. A special thanks to the Civil Defence who are a whole other level of professionalism at knowing where all my runners were, at all times. |
John Roche | Jun 26 2012, 3:44pm | Congratulations to Peter and Orla for running this event. A very challenging run, but really enjoyed the local hospitality and great welcome. Attending events outside the pale can be really good fun and must be recommended. |
Gerry Lalor | Jun 26 2012, 4:53pm | "L bÃirt leis an bpobal" /Together with the People" is the motto underlining the Laois coat of arms, and there was no better sense of proud community than that displayed during the Festival of the Mountains, from which Peter and Orla’s Glenbarrow race took inspiration, and it’s start line. Pithy race details, 11km/200m climb, may suggest a benign run for the typical IMRA runner, but instead the reality is a wonderfully eclectic blend of challenging terrain, with scenery that at times would take what was left of your breath away. As with all of Peter’s races, the organisation and marking were again so flawless that you just expect it from him now, and his bouncy enthusiasm and encouragement always evident and motivating. The affability and generosity of the local athletes also made this race somewhat special, they are justifiably proud of the Slieve Bloom, and it’s certainly an area that deserves a regular race in the IMRA calendar. Again, thanks to Peter and Orla for introducing this Dub to the area, to all the helpers and civil defence, and to the athletes from BallyroanAbbeyleix and Club Vitae who all helped make this the most welcoming of events. |

Good man Gerry, thanks for the kind words and even better for putting your feet first and bringing Derek, John and the two Lovelies Louisa and LilyRose! |
