Failure to have the required items may lead to you being denied entry to the race, or disqualification. Random checks may be carried out.

Route Description:

From the start follow the zig zag track to Arts Lough. Touch the water.

Depart the lough in a South Eastern direction to climb the natural shelf in the land with small footpath leading up to Clohernagh. Depart Clohernagh summit due west, up along the broad ridge to Lugnaquillia. Touch the cairn.

From Lugnaquillia head north to Camenabologue. Approximately the first kilometre is trackless but the remainder of this section can be followed on a walker's track without too much difficulty. We aim to have a marshall here.

From Camenabologue the next checkpoint is Conavalla. A mostly direct route offers easier navigation but a more circular route closer to Table Mountain may provide easier running ground. Prior route checking is recommended.

Next checkpoint is Lugduff. From Conavalla careful navigation is required to gain the correct spur leading to the Lugduff ridge.

From Lugduff continue south east along the ridge towards Mullacor, the final summit of the race. There is a walkers track along this section. The summit is not the first cairn but 200m beyond this point.

Descend Mullacor down to the finish in Ballinafunshoge carpark. This path can be busy so please be courteous to others using it.

Getting There:
Start/Finish at Ballinafunshoge car park (T 081 928)
Organisers Instructions:

Registration will open at 9.30am for early starters.

Registration will close at 10.50

There will be a strict kit check in place for this race.

There will be an early start at 10.00am and regular start at 11am

Important: There will be two potential cut-offs on the route for safety and logistics reasons:

1:15 Camenbologue Summit, if you reach the summit after this point, please descend back to the starting/finish area via table track and Barravore car park.

3pm: Mullacor 'gap'. If you are later than this reaching the saddle on the Wicklow way towards Mullacor, you should go directly to the finish.

The Circuit of Avonbeg requires an ability to navigate on trackless terrain using a paper map and compass,

(No digital aids allowed for Nav please, except in emergencies). Race consists of the following checkpoints which must be visited in order

Leinster Champs is run on a trust and honesty basis, you must touch the water of Arts lough and visit the summit cairn of each checkpoint.

CARPOOLING and PARKING - please try carpool as much as you can for this race. There are lots of points en route to carpool from, such as Kilmac, Glendalough or Rathdrum etc

There is limited car parking space at the start line There is a bigger car park down the road at Barravore, (a nice warm up jog back to registration) Some laybys along the road but please do not obstruct the road or access to land/homes

Prizes. First 3 men and women will receive Leinster Champs medals. We will have spot prizes too.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
