All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions etc., and clearly advised at Registration.

You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required.

Failure to have the required items may lead to you being denied entry to the race, or disqualification. Random checks may be carried out.

Route Description:

Slí Chorcaí Ultra Route



Starting in the Gaeltacht Village of Baile Mhic Ìre, next to Tigh Ui Scanaill. Finishing at The Top Of The Rock campsite in Drimoleague. From 6.5km onwards the route follows the yellow way mark arrows of the Sli Gaeltacht Mhùscraì to Gugan Barra. From Gugán the route follows the yellow way mark arrows of the Sli Fhionnbharra (St Finbars Way), past Carriganass Castle and finishing at The Top Of The Rock.
At Kealkill there will be a cut off as this will be approx 52km into race.
Trackers will be used.
Start: Baile Mhic Íre. Follow IMRA markings around the back of the twin Gaeltacht villages of Baile Mhic Íre and Baile Bhuirne, on small country roads and woodland trail. Join Slí Gaeltacht Muscraí (SGM) at 6.5km.
1st Aid Station. Béal a’Ghleanna. SGM. 16km. Drink and snacks.
2nd Aid Station. Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh. SGM. 25km. Drop bag. Hot drink and snacks. Toilets.
3rd Aid Station. Gugán Barra. Slí Gaeltacht Muscraí (SGM) meets St Finbarrs Way (SFW). 36km. Drink and snacks.
4th Aid Station. Carriganass Castle, Kealkil. SFW. 52km. CUTOFF. 4pm (8 hours). Drop bag. Hot drink and snacks. Toilets.
5th Aid Station. Mealagh Valley Community Centre. SFW. 60km. Drink and snack. Maybe a kind word.
Finish: Top of the Rock, Drimoleague. SFW. 70km (+ a little bit). Hot food and drink, beer, wine, showers, sleep.
Please note you are following the yellow man signs. In fog or mist they might not be fully visible to you. Runners should download the route to watch or have a way of following the route to keep on track.
Organisers Instructions:
This Race will be a little different to original route due to certain section being unavailable. The Ultra will start in Ballyvourney and finish at Top of the Rock in Drimoleague. Registration will take place at Top of the Rock and a bus will bring all competitors to start. Cars can be parked at the registration/finish. Accomodation pods are also available here. Camping is also available also indoor hall which mattress/sleeping bags can be brought to stay with the night before or night after. A campfire will be provided. Dinner will be provided after race. In addition to the Mandatory Kit listed above, runners will be required to carry a head torch and high vis. Maximum drop bag size allowed will be large enough for a 500ml bottle, snacks, socks, a pair of runners and maybe a light top (e.g. draw string bag, dimensions: 330 x 440mm). We will be doing Ryanair style checks at registration, any suitcases or shipping crates will be rejected. We will try and get all the drop bags back to the finish as soon as possible, but if you run fast or finish early, you may have to wait.
Prizegiving Location:
Top of the Rock. Some info about the Race HQ and accommodation: We will block out the whole place for IMRA use that weekend. This includes… (1) Parking for all cars. (2) Full use of our main building .. two full kitchens with tea towels supplied. Dining area for 60 people. Games room, Wi-Fi. Showers hot all day €1 for five mins (3) Campfire each evening from 6.30-10.30pm. Access to farm and walkway around farm . ACCOMMODATION Use of two luxury pods with toilet and double bed and pull out sofa …. Room for 2-3 persons . Cost of pod €100 PER NIGHT. Bring your own duvets and pillows Use of six family size pods (toilet in main building 50m away) with underfloor heating .. there is a double sofa bed , a single folding bed and extra mattresses : room for up to 4 persons. Cost of pod €90 per night. Bring own duvet and pillows . Bring your own tent €15 per person per night. Bring your campervan €20 per person per night. You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
