Leaving the forest road, zig-zag through the trees for 100m before following a fence line uphill (avg. gradient 17%) for about 1k. Turn right at the top and follow the track west before crossing the fence onto open mountain at the 3km mark. From here, follow a rolling singletrack to the turning point at a cairn at the 5k mark. Retrace your steps along the track to cross the fence back into the forestry for the final 2k to the finish line.

Junior Race: Distance:4km, climb: 150m. The Junior route follows the looped section of the adult route within the forest area. Starting at the barrier at the entrance to Knockanroe Woods, the first 1.6k is downhill on forest road. Leaving the forest road, zig-zag through the trees for 100m before following a fence line uphill (avg. gradient 17%) for about 1k. Turn left at the junction at the top (adult route turns right here) and follow the forest track downhill to the finish line at the forest entrance.

Getting There:
From Limerick, take the M7 towards Dublin, exiting at Junction 27 (Ballina/Killaloe/Birdhill). Then take the third exit at the Birdhill roundabout onto R445. After 6k, turn right onto R499 following signs for Silvermines for 8k. The start point is at the entrance to Knockanroe Wood, 3km from Silvermines village. The road from the village is narrow, so please carpool from the Church where there is plenty of parking. From the church, follow the ‘trailhead’ signs out of the car park. There is parking for a handful of cars at the forest entrance, with a larger carpark at the picnic area half a mile from the start (on the road between Silvermines and the forest entrance).
Organisers Instructions:
Registration from 7pm at the entrance to Knockanroe Woods.
Prizegiving Location:
Tea and sandwiches in Hickey’s Pub, Silvermines afterwards.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
