Liam VinesJul 27 2025, 1:50pmRace page is updated. We still need an RD for this race

The Wet Weather route is imposed by the NPWS to avoid erosion on the wetter part of the route. It would be well worth while having a look at both routs from Mullaghcleevaun to the finish.

See do the pictures make sense and if they don’t, ask as many questions as you like.
Mick HanneyJul 30 2025, 11:44amHi,

We are looking for an RD for this event please. Might suit someone who will have completed the league in the other 3 to 4 races.

Thanks

Mick

John BellAug 11 2025, 8:10pm@Liam, i have a question on the wet weather route. Do you have to go through the gate or can you go over it. It might be rusted shut. ;-)
Derek HayAug 12 2025, 5:08pmJust to confirm for anyone interested, I'll be doing a recce of the wet weather route this Friday 15th, meeting at Zellers in Lacken at 5:30pm. It will be at a leisurely pace so no pressure, anyone not sure about Nav or the route are welcome to come and and give it a go, weather is looking perfect too! I look forward to seeing you there.

P.S. Dont worry John I'll make sure the gate is working and well oiled :)
Mick HanneyAug 15 2025, 10:55pmThis is a super route. Got lucky with a fab evening on the hills this evening for a recce, which I will probably all forget come race day.
Derek HayAug 16 2025, 8:29amGood morning all,

As Mick has mentioned we went out and and opted to run the main route as opposed to the wet weather version previously advertised... we were not disappointed! With stunning views of Blessington lakes and surrounding mountains the race route is an absolute gem and I'd advise anyone unsure about signing up to jump in and give it a go. There's plenty of nav/route choice and the ground is soft and springy in its current condition making for a really enjoyable run in the hills. Plus I'm sure if you ask Mick nicely he'll be glad to offload some of the helpful pointers he picked up on the recce :)

Over the next week or two I plan on getting up and looking at the second route option coming off Mullaghcleevaun to the wet weather control point.
If running this iteration of the route interests you then you can contact me on the number I posted below previously.

Last thing, we are all good for volunteers now, thank you to everyone thats signed up I'll be in touch shortly.
