Elizabeth WheelerSep 17 2024, 2:39pmNow that things have calmed down and my laptop is finally getting a bit of a break since Saturday, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the British & Irish Junior Champs such a success.
First and foremost, a huge shoutout to Angela Flynn, Agnes Scully, and Paula Rea for the incredible breakfast and lunch. I truly believe that the Irish team’s fantastic performance was thanks to the hearty start they got at the youth hostel.
A special thanks to our first-aiders, Claire Keely and Mick Hanney. Fortunately, their skills weren’t put to the test, and we’re grateful that all the athletes came off the mountain safely.
Our athletes were in great hands thanks to our fantastic team managers: Sonya McConnon, Enda Cloake, Miriam Maher, and Tim Grummell. You made sure everyone was properly equipped and ready to go, and nerves settled.
To all the marshals—Harriette Robinson, Luke Weldon, Stephen Lavelle, Laura Flynn, Alan McCarthy, Matthew McConnell, Killian Mooney, Martin McMullan, Louise Farrell, Emer Kenny, John Casey, Declan Daly, and Bernard Yore—your support was crucial. The event wouldn’t have run smoothly without your help in managing the course.
A big thanks to John Shiels for capturing all the moments with his photography, and to Brian Flannelly, John Lush and Owen Connolly for handling the timing so expertly.
Lastly, a special mention to Owen Connolly. Your calm guidance and steadfast support were invaluable to me, and I can’t thank you enough for all your help.
Thank you all once again for your dedication and hard work. It really made a memorable weekend for everyone.
Angela FlynnSep 17 2024, 5:35pmWell done to you Liz, you brought it all together and made the managers job look easy. I was in the hall for the after, talking to very proud and grateful parents from both the UK and Ireland. It was a pleasure to be involved.
Jeff SwordsSep 17 2024, 5:42pmOver the weekend I met a lady who had ran for GB at the World Masters and got chatting as you do. She told me her daughter had just ran the B&I race (and won) in Ireland and that she had a great time and told her mother they need to come over to that part of Ireland together some time.

So that's some excellent random feedback for everyone involved in the event.
Richard NunanSep 17 2024, 5:58pmWell done Elizabeth, Miriam, Angela and team. Delighted it all went so well in the day after all the prep !

Hon the village !
