Miriam MaherAug 11 2023, 3:10pmAfternoon!

Since Andrew Hanney raised a motion at last years AGM seeking greater visibility and focus on the levels of active volunteering within IMRA, Eoin Keith, in his role of Webmaster, has been working on various changes and additions to the information on the website.

Very pleased to flag with you now the IMRA hall of fame at the following link:

https://www.imra.ie/hof/volunteers

Some incredible stats in there, well done to all those listed and everyone who keeps on giving of their time and efforts to ensure the races get run and the calendar gets delivered.

Many thanks Eoin and those who helped in the background testing to deliver on this and Andrew for driving this focus through the AGM last year.

Lastly - this is a list everyone who races in IMRA should be on - if you’re not - easy to rectify that. Sign up - plenty of events left on the calendar for this year!

Thanks, Miriam

Well done to Andrew Hanney for raising this issue and to Eoin Keith for doing the website changes to make it easier to see who our most active volunteers are.

There is also a new listing under the volunteering tab showing who has volunteered in 2023.

We have had a vintage IMRA year so far, with more races than ever, super new activity in the North West, lots of new Race Directors and Race Routes- all delivered at mostly €7 per race by dozens of enthusiastic teams of IMRA volunteers week in , week out.

If you haven't volunteered yet for whatever reason, sign up and give it a go - its the very best way to see what goes on behind the scenes at IMRA races, you'll meet lots of people and enjoy a new perspective on IMRA's activities
Peter O'FarrellAug 11 2023, 6:27pmWell done well done to all involved.
I am slightly surprised to see Eoin didn't take the opportunity to revive the Enduro points concept as a HannO points scale- how many volunteering credits is a place on the committee worth? Is the place on the committee worth slightly less enduro points in year 2 as you have the hang of knowing which of the many emails to ignore? Can the partners of race directors claim a portion of a volunteering credit? Should that be taken from their partners points? And what about all those mountain rescue lads who don't even run but bring their first aid goodness to the table?
And then, as the piggies might say, are some volunteers more equal than others...First Aid seems to be vital at all times, should it get an enhanced HannO point?
Mick HanneyAug 11 2023, 11:04pmCredit to Eoin and the rest of the committee. I see the extended Hall of Fame also has the Club 100 and the All-time winners lists. Lists of hill running legends.
Andrew HanneyAug 11 2023, 11:24pmGood man Peter, I have applied for a patent on the HannO point scale of volunteering excellence :)

Thanks to the committee for embracing the motions raised and to Eoin and anyone else involved in the great site updates to support those motions.
In IMRA... volunteering is just as important as the running, there is no one without the other.
