We had a lovely spring morning for the final race of the 2012 Spring league, and the dry recent conditions meant that conditions were dry underfoot throughout the course. 114 runners registered for the race, well above the total from last year. The 5k course is quick for a hill race, with a few sharp climbs to test the strength of the legs also. Gerard Heery, from host club St Brigids, made it two from two in the league - a repeat of last years league! There was great turnout of juniors, especially from host club St Brigids and Beaufort College, but it was two young men from Star of the Sea who competed at the sharp end of the race, with Rob Tully in 2nd and Andrew Coscoran in 4th - great talent for the future. Winter League runner up Alan Kelly was in third. In the womens race, Karen O'Hanlon finished strongly to win out, with Elaine Plunkett in 2nd and Mags Greenan just holding on to third in a sprint for the line. A full list of the results and category winners can be found in the results section. Well done to host club St Brigids who ran a superbly run race with a great selection of tea, coffee, sandwiches and cake afterwards that everyone really enjoyed!
