A small number of runners gathered in Three Rock while the rest of the country had other sporting matters on their minds to compete for places on the Irish Junior team for the B & I Junior Hillrunning championship next month.
The numbers were disappointing, particularly in the U15 and U19 boys, but there was a good geographic spread with runners from the Midlands, NE, SE ,Cork and Dublin. Junior Manager Pat Donlon is still abroad and he will shortly contact those you have been successful in securing a place on the team.
Congratulations to all you who braved the conditions, especially those who experienced the near hurricane force winds on top of Fairy Castle. I would like to thank all the marshalls and other officials who gave up their Sunday to put on this event even if at times there were more marshalls than runners in a race.
