Aidan ClearyAug 15 2025, 11:22pmHi all,

Run Republic have just published a lovely piece on the Mám Éan race!

If you fancy taking on Connemara’s rugged beauty, it’s 8.3km with 350m climb, fully marked trails, and epic views of the 12 Bens (there’s a junior course too – 3.5km).

Entries are just €7 (€5 for O65s/U18s) — but don’t forget, they close Fri 22nd Aug at 18:00.
We’re also looking for volunteers, so if you’re not running, come along and help out — you’ll tick off your volunteer credit and still be part of the day!

Aidan ClearyAug 16 2025, 7:04pmHi Caroline, There’s a short course that’s a little longer than the Junior one, with the turning point at the 2nd gate. I’m planning to do a recce of it tomorrow and will update the event details afterwards.
Aidan ClearyAug 19 2025, 6:09pmMám Éan Race – Saturday 23rd August 2025

Hi all,

A quick reminder that the Mám Éan Race takes place on Saturday, 23rd August at 10:00, starting from Loigín Car Park, Connemara. Registration is open online now, and the closing date for entries is Friday 22st August at 18:00 – there will be no entry on the day.

This is a beautiful 8.3km / 350m climb route in the heart of Connemara, with a junior/short course option of 3.7km / 170m climb. The course is fully marked, takes in stunning views, and is always a highlight of the calendar.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with:

Registration & finish line

Course marshalls

Volunteering is a brilliant way to support IMRA, meet the community, and for members it counts towards your 2 non-running volunteer roles for year-end prizes. Non-members are very welcome too – so if you know someone who’d like to get involved, please invite them along.

The long-range forecast is looking promising, so fingers crossed for another great day out on the trails.

Hope to see plenty of you running or helping on the day – it’s always a race worth making the trip for!
Colin CallananAug 21 2025, 12:46pmThis will be another great event in Galway, wishing ye all the best with it!
Aidan ClearyAug 22 2025, 11:19amHi all! Just a reminder that registration closes at 18:00 today. Also, I’m looking for one or two volunteers

vanessa sumnerAug 23 2025, 3:25pmThanks to Aidan, and all the volunteers for this morning's race. It was so well organized. One of the best spreads afterwards I've ever seen at an IMRA run, and the raffle was good craic. A high bar set for next year!!
Michelle HigginsAug 23 2025, 6:19pmThank you Aidan & all the super volunteers on todays
Event…. Tough run, with wonderful scenery and great support both out on the course and after with the treats. Really enjoyed it.
Aidan ClearyAug 23 2025, 7:56pmI just want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make the Mám Éan race such a success. From early-morning course marking and registration to gate marshals, first aid, and finish-line support – your time, energy, and good humour made everything run smoothly. The race simply could not happen without your commitment, and I’m very grateful.

A big thank you also to all of the participants who came out and took part in the race – your spirit and effort made for a fantastic day on the hills.

Full results will be available early next week.

Looking ahead, the next Galway League race takes place at Diamond Hill on Saturday, 6th September 2025 at 18:30 – we hope to see many of you there.

Thanks again for giving your time and energy to support the runners and the event. It really means a lot to both me and the IMRA community.

Best,
Aidan Cleary

Paula Donnellan WalshAug 23 2025, 8:21pmA huge thanks to Aidan, the volunteers and all the participants for such a wonderful ramble up and around Mam Ean today. A huge effort was put in by everyone and it was so much appreciated. The course was so well marked out, the Stewarts were so encouraging, the after party at the bottom of the mountain, looking around for miles of beauty, escapism at its best. Safety was key today with very difficult terrain and slippy surfaces.
Here's to many more wonderful rambles Aidan you have a calling!!
Rachel HarneyAug 24 2025, 12:11pmGreat race! Thanks Aidan and all the volunteers for a lovely Saturday morning!
