Orlaith BourneJul 25 2025, 9:38amHi Folks,

Bray Head is fast approaching! and promises to be a fun filled evening with a great route with many new twists and turns.
This is also the last race of the League so will double up as our awards night.

With this in mind, it will be busy! So get yourselves familiar with the information regarding parking, registration, and most importantly The Route! All over on The Event Page:
https://www.imra.ie/events/view/id/2669

We plan to have lots of marshals out on the course so no body gets lost and to avoid any delays to the start of our Fantastic Awards night.

If you are looking to get your last volunteering opportunity in before the end of the league please sign up at the bottom of the Bray Head event page.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to a great evening!

Any Questions, just shout!

Orlaith
Anne LyonsJul 29 2025, 12:53pmHi I am available to volunteer if you need an extra person
Orlaith BourneAug 3 2025, 6:45pmHi folks,

Just jumping on here to remind you all that Bray head opens for registration tomorrow morning at 9am.

Also to say, whilst this is a short race, it is a fast race with technical terrain and elevation that packs a punch for the distance!

The short course will also take you up to Bray cross and has some spectacular views so also worth considering if you want to get back down to The Martello in time for some of Lillian's Awards Night nibbles!!

There will be an ice cream van near the finish line for everyone to enjoy a 99 to cool down after a great run on the hills.

Looking forward to see you all on Wednesday,

Orlaith & Niamh
Orlaith BourneAug 4 2025, 11:27amBray Head Race week is here!!

Lots have signed up already! Very exciting!

There will be an ice cream van near the finish line, please collect your raffle ticket when the hard work on the hill is done to get your 99 to cool you down!

Then please make your way down to The Martello for the Awards evening...

As this is the last race of the Leinster League,
Lillian and her Awards team will be putting on a BBQ in the Martello Bar after the race.

Tickets for the BBQ are €5.00 for adult members attending, no charge for the juniors, finger food on offer.

You can purchase your ticket on the shop now.

Louis MulleeAug 5 2025, 2:21pm*** BBQ Alert for Bray Head Runners! ***

You’ve conquered Bray Head, dodged rocks, braved the wind and rain? and maybe even outrun a sheep or two…
But can you outrun FOMO when the BBQ kicks off and you’re ticketless, holding nothing but a soggy banana?

Buy your BBQ ticket now or risk watching your fellow runners devour burgers while you nibble on regret.

Let’s make sure the only thing you’re missing is your toenail—not the BBQ!

(Tickets available in the IMRA shop)
John Murphy74Aug 5 2025, 2:31pmHI Orlaith,
It looks like I won't be able to run Wednesday now, picked up a small injury, so if you need an extra pair of hands let me know.
Orlaith BourneAug 6 2025, 12:20amSorry to hear this John, heal well, no, we're all good for volunteers now, thanks a mill, hopefully see you down there for the awards night anyway!
Orlaith BourneAug 6 2025, 11:58amLooking forward to this evening folks!

If any marshalls have any cowbells or musical instruments please feel free to bring them along to cheer our runners on!

Just remember the primary focus is to direct our runners whilst doing so!!

Thanks again everyone, see you this evening!
Orlaith BourneAug 6 2025, 12:18pmAn information email has now been sent to all participants. Please check your email.
Ewoud Van GinderachterAug 6 2025, 12:25pmHi Orlaith,

Sinead ONeillAug 6 2025, 12:47pmHiOrlaith , I just missed the application or enrolment I should have done it yesterday... pre occupied with work being busy . I would like to run the course .Is it possible ?
Lillian DeeganAug 6 2025, 1:51pmHello Ewoud and Sinead, sorry to see ye missed the entry window for Bray Head this evening - hard luck! We don’t have late entry options of any kind I’m afraid.

To all that have made plans to join us at the Martello post race for the end of summer awards night post run (the shop for tickets is still open), once you hit the Martello, head in past the hotel reception area, up the stairs and our helpers will take it from there direction wise for you.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone for a fun filled few hours in great company.
Orlaith BourneAug 6 2025, 2:26pmMandatory kit for this evening is a Shower proof jacket.
Those using public transport there will be a space at Registration to leave kit bags, please do not leave any valuables!
Alan KennedyAug 6 2025, 11:58pmWow, what a way to end the league. Brilliant race with huge numbers and a great night after in the Martello. Huge congrats to Orlagh, Linda and the noisy Marshalls all Over the course, great craic. First aider was busy after the race but mostly just scuffs & scratches. Ice cream is always a welcome treat after , despite the long queue.

And to Lillian and Miriam and team for a great awards night and tons of raffle prizes Great buzz there tonight. Congrats to all the winners.
Warren SwordsAug 7 2025, 7:50amThanks to Orlaith, Niamh and all the volunteers. That was a great race.

I thought the new course was fantastic, well done to whoever came up with that route. Was fast and furious. The second half of it was great, made for a brilliant descent even if I had no clue when I was on the hill.
Mick HanneyAug 7 2025, 7:51amThanks Orlaith and team for a super event.
We were taken on a journey around Bray head on tracks that we didn't know existed.
Not an easy event to manage with so many participants, so kudos.
The marking and marshalling was ace.
The ice cream van at the end was a nice touch.
Rosy TempleAug 7 2025, 8:09amBig thank you to Orlaith, Niamh and crew of volunteers for a brilliant evening & 10/10 organisation all round. Some buzz to pitch up with many hundreds to take on the hills on a super fast and exciting course with panoramic views (when not keeping the head down in a gorse tunnel!). A lovely dip after and gathering in the pub to round off a mid week special. Thanks all!
Brendan LawlorAug 7 2025, 9:24amWell done to Orlaith, Niamh and team for a fantastic end of league race. This was Orlaiths first time being a race director and with over 300 participants it was a big challenge. Add in the new route and ice cream van and her work on our behalf becomes even more impressive! Big kudos all round!

Next week it’s onto the mountain rescue benefit race.. more on that soon
Laura FlynnAug 7 2025, 10:02amYou did a super job last night Orlaith. With such large numbers and so much other bits happening you managed to pull it off without a hitch. Well done. Thanks also to the Committee and all the RDs for another fantastic Leinster League.
Vivian O'GormanAug 7 2025, 10:34amWhat a fantastic night last night was. A first time Race
Director, over 300 runners, a new well marked route, the
loudest marshalls ever!!! A big thank you and well done to
Orlaith and Niamh and all the volunteers for giving us
all a great night and ending the Leinster League on such
a high...
Richard AllanAug 7 2025, 11:44amThanks Orlaith, Niamh, and team for a super race last night. Loved the route - even had us locals scratching our heads.

Thanks also to everyone involved in organizing the league.

Special thanks to Phil Behan and all who supported the Junior league - my daughter may have been converted..
Orlaith BourneAug 7 2025, 1:11pmThank you so much for all your supportive messages.

I just wanted to let everyone know that for what was going to be a baby race (7K on Bray head… no bother!!) turned into a mammoth new route, coupled with The Awards night, with 350 people signing up, we knew it was going to be a big deal!

Thankfully we decided to take on as many volunteers as offered, and in true IMRA spirit, 35 people signed up to help!!!

We had a core team of 14, dealing with registration, laptop, first aid, Marshall coordinating, race marking and demarking, spotters, welcomers, Ice cream ticket guy! raffle ticket kids! And cloak room manager!

We had an unbelievable 19 course marshalls out on the hills, all escorted to their marshall points in good time by Karl, Niamh and Kathleen.

Thank you to Niamh O Gorman & Karl Bourne for being on 24 hour call to organise last night’s race. Without them, I would not have been able to pull it off.

Behind every Race Director is an amazing team, with every small role contributing to the smooth running of a successful event so I want to personally name and thank the following, huge appreciation to you all:

Kathleen Curran, Trevor Kerley, Aoife Mc Kernan, Rob Costello, Pat Mc Kernan, Alan Bermingham, Miriam Maher, Peter Cannon, Conor O Farrell, Linda Rowden, Lena Staniszewska, Martina Colville, Jason Dowling, Patrick Browne, Dilla Howard, Donatas Jocius, Robertas Jocius, Mile Jociute, Karl Bourne, Rachel Clarke, John Duffy, Elaine Lee, Lisa Bishop, Sinead Rock, Angela Morrisey, Afric Morrisey, Jim Durham, Dessie Tobin, Anne Lyons, Valdas Tilunas, Peter Sutcliffe, Edel Monaghan, Dominic Redmond, Richard Doyle, John Paul, Pixie Bourne, Suki Bourne.

A special thank you to all my club mates from Kilcoole AC who made up a big chunk of the volunteers, and runners!

Ahead of registration, Trevor kindly welcomed and controlled a queue of 311 people in the midst of a busy restaurant! John Paul managed the cloak room taking kit bags.

Checking in 311 runners in good time is no easy job, Yet Aoife Rob, Pat and Alan did it with ease and calm, before carrying on their work up at the finish line. Thank you all.

Thanks to Peter, Miriam & Conor for efficiently dealing with laptop, prior to and during the race and everyone then working together, meticulously sorting through the results in the midst of an awards night surrounded by over 300 people, huge kudos and thanks to you all for that.

Our marshalls were responsive to comms prior to the race, arrived in time and supported and directed our runners to perfection. Thank you for your help also in demarking the course.

With two routes running at the same time you all did a fantastic job, and thank you to all our participants as I know the route, whilst fun, was narrow in places and required some patience whilst passing our junior runners, but isn’t it great to see so many juniors participate, we are watching the future of IMRA right there.

I want to thank Anna, Niamh & Karl for helping with pruning prior to the race, and my pal Lena for jumping in on First aid after a week of working nights, she was then joined by Anna to help all our wounded soldiers after some hard work running the hills!

The Route was a team effort. I wanted to incorporate Bray side, Greystones side, The Cross, The Cable Car, The pump track and Raheen-a-Cluig, with input from Rob, and many recces with Karl, Niamh and Anna, we nailed it, I hope you enjoyed all the surprises!

We had four spotters in place, and with 311 participants we needed all the help we could get so thank you Peter Cannon and Martina Colville for doubling up on your roles and jumping in to help with this. It’s this kind of comradery that makes IMRA the fabulous community that it is.

I want to thank Liam Vines for organising all the licences and dealing with The Council and Land owners. There is so much work going on behind the scenes so thank you to all the IMRA Committee and volunteers for this.

I also want to thank Clare Keeley, always on standby to answer any questions day or night, and for showing me the ropes on the Wicklow Way Half.

Lastly I want to thank Lillian. For meeting me, for running the course with us and for being a guiding hand through all of this preparation, so supportive.

We all had a fantastic night during the race and the Awards afterwards, congratulations to all our participants and awards winners.

We hope you enjoyed it as much as our team did,
Roll on Next Year!!!

Many thanks for all your support,
Orlaith Bourne
James CurranAug 7 2025, 6:11pmWhat an amazing route over Bray Head. Fantastic work. Brilluant race altogether. Congrats to everyone involved in the organisation.
Jim DurhamAug 7 2025, 7:23pmThanks to Orlaith, Karl, Niamh and all the great team who made the evening marshalling on Bray Head as enjoyable as running. A great evening.
Sean ForsythAug 8 2025, 11:03amWell done Orlaith and team, while I didn't run the race, Éabha did and despite her head first detour into some brambles, she really enjoyed it.

Éabha wanted me to say a huge thanks to Anna on 1st aid for the help afterwards, the Alan K out on route and especially to Catherine and Rowan for getting her moving again and finishing.
Joachim PietschAug 10 2025, 11:18amHi, has anybody found handed in a green Asics FujiTrail jacket?
