Dan GeelonMay 9 2025, 7:04pmFolks, Djouce race coming up on the 11th June, thanks to everyone that has volunteered so far but we need a lot more volunteers and now is the time to get your volunteering duties up to date. Due to the amount of storm damage in Djouce woods, the route this year will have some re-routing but expect it to be just as difficult with about 12km of running and 650m elevation gain :)
Dan GeelonMay 22 2025, 3:03pmFolks, we are getting close to our Djouce race on the 11 th June and we could do with a few more volunteers especially a lap top operator. Thanks Dan
Paul FlynnMay 26 2025, 9:41amHi Dan, Do you know yet what the course is going to be for this one? I tried running the traditional route yesterday and it was in a bit of a state with fallen trees both on the way up and coming down.
Dan GeelonMay 26 2025, 12:39pmPaul, on the event details sheet, I have inserted a plotaroute connection for copying into your browser. I will be up there this evening to make some minor changes and will have the final route by the end of the week plus the juniors course. Any problems, contact me. Dan
Alan KennedyMay 26 2025, 1:01pmThanks Dan but you do realise this is a Leinster League race and not the Irish Ultra Champs??
12k and 600m climbing for a Wed night night !!!
The pizzas in Bertos after will be well earned :-)
Paul FlynnMay 27 2025, 9:02amThanks Dan. I'll try to fit in a recce of the new course before the 11th.
Dan GeelonMay 28 2025, 8:54amFolks, I am still looking for a laptop operator and some more volunteers for marshalling, if your free on the 11th June, there will be pizza
Tim ManganMay 28 2025, 9:33pmVolunteered for laptop operator there
Dan GeelonMay 29 2025, 10:37amThanks Tim, that’s great. Still looking for a few more volunteers, thanks. Dan
Kara FleischmannMay 31 2025, 12:02pmDan, at what time do you want the Marshall Volunteers to arrive?
Dan GeelonMay 31 2025, 12:16pmKara, we will need all volunteers to arrive at about 6.00pm. Dan
Nancy-Jane BulfinJun 4 2025, 9:23amHey! It's my first time volunteering so I went for helper, but happy to help with any tasks where needed of course. Quick question as I'm not sure how it works: I chose for this one to be a running volunteer, as I'm getting a lift with someone who is volunteering (will be arriving early and leaving late I believe) but also really want to do this particular race so hope that's ok. Do I also sign up for the race on Monday when it opens, or does the volunteering cover it? Thanks!
Dan GeelonJun 4 2025, 11:32amNancy-Jane, thanks for volunteering, you will have to register for the race when it goes on sale on Monday. I will send you and all the other volunteers an email at the weekend end with the details of the volunteering duties. If any of the volunteers would like to take a specific role, message me at o86 838o8o3. Thanks again for volunteering
Nancy-Jane BulfinJun 5 2025, 2:18pmThanks Dan, good to know, will do that so on Monday morning and will keep an eye out for the email!
Alan KennedyJun 5 2025, 5:25pmHi Dan, the Google maps link you have listed is to the Lake car park and not Long Hill. Think it should be:

Dan GeelonJun 5 2025, 7:26pmThanks Alan, we are definitely meeting at the Long Hill car park, sorry for the confusion.
Dan GeelonJun 7 2025, 9:38amVolunteering - thanks to all our volunteers, we have enough now but there are plenty more races in the calendar for anyone that needs to get their volunteering duties in.
Dan GeelonJun 8 2025, 6:38pmFolks, just a reminder that Djouce Ayling Abyss goes on sale at 9.00am in the morning and note that a limit of 220 runners has been set and this cannot be exceeded. Dan.
Christian ChiuzbaianJun 9 2025, 9:03pmHi all
Missed the entry today :( but i volunteer and also my carpool still stands
Coming from Maynooth if anyone is looking for a lift .
Dan GeelonJun 10 2025, 11:27amChristian, I am afraid that we already have enough volunteers for tomorrow’s race but next weeks race in Trooperstown needs volunteers or you can enter it on Monday from 9.00am. Thanks again Dan
Dan GeelonJun 10 2025, 7:09pmFolks, hope everyone is looking forward to tomorrows race on an exciting course. The race has sold out so everyone should consider the parking options and carpool where possible. Also, there will be bugs about so don't forget your spray.
Mick HanneyJun 11 2025, 4:47pmHi Dan, can you confirm the mandatory kit requirement for the race please? Thanks.
Dan GeelonJun 11 2025, 5:36pmJacket will suffice
Jeff SwordsJun 11 2025, 10:09pmResults up, email IMRAResults at Gmail dot com with any queries.
Mark McMullanJun 11 2025, 10:26pmHi Jeff, while I would love to have been in 5th place, I was in the early start! My time was around 1.37. Thanks.
Alan KennedyJun 11 2025, 11:10pmThanks Dan and Jody for a great race. Tough route for a Wed league race but the descent was as fun as before even with the adjustments. Volunteers as always were so supportive across the course and a shoutout to Ronan for doing the summit, was cool and windy up there tonight. The Pizzas after in Bertos were fab and such a nice treat. Thanks to the staff for feeding such a large group.
Lillian DeeganJun 11 2025, 11:28pmSeconding Alan there. Fair play Dan, Joe and race team - the AA remains a heck of a route. Summit chap Ronan - you were the bees knees with oodles of drive ‘er on jazz up top. I thought I’d never get there. That climb never gets easier!

Lost & Found:
A soft flask was picked up on the trek back to the car tonight. It will be in the van for collection.
Joe LalorJun 11 2025, 11:46pmAyling amiss on the abyss
Jeff SwordsJun 12 2025, 8:56amThanks Mark, I've updated that.
Anyone else listed on the wrong start or course let me know.
NIAMH L'ESTRANGEJun 12 2025, 1:12pmThanks so much to all volunteers and runners who helped me last night after my fall, especially Alastair, Richard, Dennis, Coty and the marshal at the Djouce stile (whose name I didn't catch! I hope I have the other names correct ;-)).
The response from the support team was very impressive and your support to me exceptionally kind. Especially for not making feel like an idiot!!
I ended up getting four stitches after a long wait in Vincent's A&E last night.
But I'll be back to run another day!! Next time more cautiously!
Jeff SwordsJun 12 2025, 2:04pmGood to hear you'll be back Niamh, Caroline Reid was the marshal at the style up and down from Djouce.
Dan GeelonJun 12 2025, 2:10pmThanks to all our volunteers that helped run a great event last night, too many names to mention but everyone done a fantastic job no matter what was thrown at them without any fuss and with a smile, thanks again Dan.
Richard AllanJun 12 2025, 3:00pmNiamh – glad to hear you got sorted. You were really motoring when you passed me – don’t let this slow you, just maybe admire the scenery a bit less :) (didn’t stop me taking a tumble in Brokagh last week mind you…)

Shout out to Caroline – who was on the phone whilst cracking open the first aid and still trying to direct runners
NIAMH L'ESTRANGEJun 12 2025, 8:45pmIndeed! Thanks Caroline. I really appreciated your assistance.
Daniel ToalJun 16 2025, 7:28pmThis was my favourite imra race so far to be honest! I made a video of the race if you want to check it out - https://youtu.be/iObNB36NxFA

Can't wait for the next race :)
Dan GeelonJun 16 2025, 9:17pmGreat video, thanks for sharing it and your previous videos.
Daniel ToalJun 16 2025, 9:54pmCheers Dan! It's fun making them :)
