Mick Hanney | Jan 15 2025, 10:27am | This will be the first of this years trail league taking in a loop of the Roddenagh woods at Annacurra before a circuit of the hill. Event details are updated in advance with a map if anyone wanted to do a recce at any stage. Happy to guide anyone around if they are interested. |
Andy Walker | Jan 16 2025, 11:08am | Hi Mick, I don't think I'll be able to make the race itself but if you are doing any recces or there's interest from other people to be guided round then I could be keen to come along for that instead... |
Amanda Fitzgerald | Jan 19 2025, 9:24pm | Hi Mick will there be a Junior race available for the small kids? Thanks |
Mick Hanney | Jan 19 2025, 9:49pm | Hi Amanda, Currently short course is 5.7k which restricts it to M/F16s and above. I am open to options to have a shorter option (again) to allow all juniors. For instance, 2 loops of Roddenagh woods would be about 4k. Happy to chat to see if this, or other options, might work. Would like to have this as inclusive as possible. Regards, Mick |
Mick Hanney | Jan 19 2025, 10:19pm | @Amanda I had forgotten that we can only have 2 courses - long or short - for official race results purposes there can only be 2 races. I'll look at what normally is supported at trail league races (juniors wise) and we can chat. Cheers, Mick |
Mick Hanney | Jan 20 2025, 9:05am | The details for the short course have been updated, now slightly shorter than originally proposed without compromising the fun bits. |
Amanda Fitzgerald | Jan 20 2025, 9:30am | Hey Mick I see that it's been changed to suit juniors also. Thankyou for accommodating them especially when it's a local race for them. It's great to see more kids out at the races. I did the long course last time and loved it. Great location and lots of variety. Looking forward to all the fun bits. Thanks again |
Mick Hanney | Feb 4 2025, 3:30pm | Early request for help on this event for the usual things pls. First aid, laptop, and non-running volunteers, some of whom will be marshals on the day and others to help with reg and post race. If someone wants to take a walk in and get some races photos that would be a bonus. A couple of running volunteers to help with parking would be appreciated.. Volunteers make our events happen and we really appreciate the help. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 15 2025, 3:36pm | Thanks for the volunteers so far. 2 or 3 more ideally and we should be sorted. If you haven't been to Annacurra before its a great IMRA race location. Registration, car park, start line and pub are all without touching distance. Use the IMRA car pool and/or car share with friends if you can. NB: In a change to other IMRA races, the short course will start 15 mins before the main race. Also, there isn't an early start on the long course. This is due to the course which has lots of single track sections and trying to organise the flow of runners around the hill as best as possible. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 16 2025, 8:12pm | Short Course Route Preview:- 1. Start and after 100m, a left turn uphill track to t-junction on fire-road (includes a road crossing that will be marshalled. 2.300m on fire road before single track climb thru forest for c 1k. 3.About 50m fire-road, to 'short course marshal'. Then left along a raised ditch for 200 or so meters. 4. Sharp feft, downhill single-tracks for c. 600m. A bit on fireroad then 1k downhill track to finish. Distance 4.5k. c. 260m elevation. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 17 2025, 9:18pm | Long Course Route Preview:- 1. A gentle start with a flat 1st k, and short climb, anti-clockwise around Roddenagh woods. 2. c.2k in you cross road (marshalled), single track, then short fire road section in higher woods. 3. Single track climb thru forest for 1k. 4. Turn right onto fire-road, Next 1.5k are gentle up then down on fire road. 5. Tricky single track climb leading to an off-piste section, climbing 94m in 1k. 6. A bit of fire road at the top before a fast flowing single track thru the forest, 7 Fire-road/track/roadcrossing/track back down to finish. Food n drink. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 17 2025, 10:00pm | Thanks again for the early volunteers. I am good for running volunteers. A shadow laptop person and 1 more non-running volunteer and we should be set, thanks. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 19 2025, 7:00pm | Just to repeat that there won't be an early start on the main race (9k) . But, the short course is starting 15 mins before main race and at nearly 5k and over 200m of climb it is a decent challenge. So if the early start is normally your preference, there is an option of doing the short course. |
Alan Ayling | Feb 19 2025, 10:38pm | ^ So only long course people get food & drink? ;-) |
Mick Hanney | Feb 20 2025, 11:48am | lol. Short course runners will get to bar first though, in theory. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 20 2025, 6:38pm | Please consider using the carpool option if you are a) looking for a lift or b) have room in your care. Or share a lift down with racing friends (or foes). We have a reasonable amount of car parking but it will fill up quick if we have lots of single occupancy cars. Thanks. |
Mick Hanney | Feb 20 2025, 7:00pm | We have enough volunteers now, thanks. |
Mick Hanney | Yesterday, 8:06pm | I'll email volunteers mid-week with further information for the day. |
