Mick HanneyAug 1 2025, 8:06pmJust over a week to go…
John Murphy74Aug 1 2025, 9:59pmIs there a junior race?
Mick HanneyAug 2 2025, 7:57amHi John,

My understanding is this will be run on same lines as last year which featured a short course / junior option for over 14s. Event details should be updated in the coming days.

Regards,

Mick
John Murphy74Aug 2 2025, 8:29amThanks Mick, my daughter is 12 so she won't be eligible then?
Mick HanneyAug 2 2025, 7:19pmHi John,
Having checked the competition rules the age for the short course is 16 and over. Even this short course is a tough challenge with a very steep hill up, ridge run out and back and a steep technical downhill.
Regards,
Mick
Mick HanneyAug 2 2025, 8:59pmSorry, correction it is over 14s for juniors.
Niamh KellyAug 2 2025, 9:45pmHi all,

As this is the last race for the SEL, and the last chance for our junior runners to earn a spot on the league table, I think we need to ensure the route is suitable for all junior runners.
I will have a chat with Imogen the RD and try and sort a suitable route
Niamh
Elizabeth WheelerAug 4 2025, 5:17pmHi everyone
Please note that this race is NOT part of the junior league. The route is much too technical and is not suitable for a junior course. It was not included in the Junior League list of events for this reason.
If you have any queries about this please email juniors@imra.ie.
Many thanks.
Imogen BoadenAug 5 2025, 4:37pmHello,
We could do with a few more volunteers on Saturday please. I need a couple more marshals and a laptop operator.
Mick HanneyAug 6 2025, 10:03pmIf you are on the fence about entering, go for it, you won't be disappointed. Annagh is always worth the entry fee for the post-race stories alone and the pint back at the Gap pub..
Imogen BoadenAug 8 2025, 9:51amLast day for entries.

The course is looking great.

The ground is dry, the bracken cut back
and the heather is in full bloom.

See you tomorrow on Annagh.
Imogen BoadenAug 9 2025, 9:34amGood Morning

Kit requirement for today's race is a jacket.

Weather looks great.
Neil GunningAug 9 2025, 10:14amHi Imogen I had signed up but won’t be coming down today - just for numbers. Neil
Shane FurlongAug 9 2025, 2:17pmThanks for great race imogen and crew. A challenging route no doubt. Don't know how anyone would get down that steep turnaround on a wet day. Fair play to last years runners. Hopefully next year ill stay on course and not invent my own way back to the finish
Greg RobinsAug 9 2025, 3:41pmI was the last winner! Thank you Imogen and all your volunteers - especially John who patiently toddled behind me on my jelly legs. I'll probably stick to the 5,6 and 7 rated races ...
Mick HanneyAug 9 2025, 5:10pmSuper Annagh event today. Kudos to first time RD Imogen and crew. Last week we did a route recce and the undergrowth was so high in parts the trail couldn't be seen. Since then much work has happened behind the scenes led by Imogen to make today happen.

Delighted to be able to run the race today and experience first hand the great Gap pub experience, from the runners point of view.

Thanks to all the marshals out on the course.

Its a tough, love-hate route that makes the best of the hill. For a future edition, a rescheduling to the early months of the year might restore some slippiness to the Connahill descent/climb.

Funny seeing some route variations on strava. A bit like The Barclays marathon, seeing runners finish from an unexpected direction.
Jennifer KehoeAug 9 2025, 6:59pmThanks, Imogen and team, for today! You could really see the hard work that went on behind the scenes. It was a tough challenge, but such a great race. Thank you!
Peter DoyleAug 9 2025, 8:06pmThanks to Imogen and all the crew that helped make todays race possible.
After doing it for the first time last year convinced a few more to come down with me again this year to give it another go. Well worth the trip.
Defintely different underfoot conditions this year and so less slip, sliding down the hill/ abyss!
Took a few photos as I went along and have posted these up.
A few different approaches to getting back up from the abyss on show :-)
Looks like Joe Lalor's Gandalf award will be claimed by others this year with both the one stick/ staff and two stick/ staff approach being employed.
Great fun - thanks again
Rob TobinAug 9 2025, 9:19pmA big keg o' rum to Imogen and all yer mateys, to Bernard who raised the Jolly Rogers of IMRA all over this perilous peak and Foxy and Lillian who fastened me patches after goin' o'erboard on the descent at the back end of the course.

A sea dog raced up Annagh Hill,
Hauled his bones 'long the wall without skill,
He ran the high spine,
To the dust and the pine,
An' in The Gap his grog he did swill.
Mick HanneyAug 9 2025, 9:50pmLove it Rob.
There are stories of buried treasure over on Connahill descent and many have gone digging for it even resorting to scooting on their backsides. The map has been lost in time. People have gone traipsing all over the hill, in vain, in their search for the treasure chest of doubloons. Rumour has it that Gandalf has the secret.
Mick HanneyAug 10 2025, 8:16amIt was arts weekend at the Gap in Ballythomas and we had 2 actors in pirate regalia arrive into the bar as prize giving was about to start and they joined in. A couple of photos refer. Hence the pirate related tales.
Anne LyonsAug 10 2025, 8:05pmThanks Imogen for a great race and very well organised
Liam MooneyAug 11 2025, 12:16pmThanks Imogen and crew for an absolute belter of a race. Epic stuff.

Mick HanneyAug 11 2025, 12:50pmThanks Liam. Thats a cracking report.
Ger PowerAug 11 2025, 11:05pmHi Imogen,
Why am I down as a DNF?
Imogen BoadenAug 12 2025, 10:48amHi Ger,
I'll look into for you.
Regards,
Imogen
