Derek HayJun 1 2025, 9:51amGood morning all,

Blackstairs mountain, the highlight of the South East League is only two weeks away. I'm putting the call out looking for a couple more volunteers to help with set up/marshalling and one or two running volunteers to help with parking if possible please.

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone down to Wexford for a great weekend of racing in the sunny south east!
Liam BoweJun 1 2025, 2:04pmI'll do the parking for you Derek
Derek HayJun 1 2025, 2:38pmThanks Liam, I've done the same for Mt Leinster.
Chloe HayJun 3 2025, 9:05pmEvening everyone,

The plotaroute's for the long and shorts courses are up for this race, if you would like to check them out.

We are still short 3 or 4 non-running volunteers any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks.
John Murphy74Jun 3 2025, 9:32pmHi guys, I have put Alexandra and myself in as volunteers. She might still want to do the junior course but I'll let you know.
Derek HayJun 3 2025, 11:20pmThat's great John, I look forward to seeing you both there thanks for the help.
Derek HayJun 8 2025, 6:45pmWe are good for volunteers now, thanks to those who are signed up I'll send a mail out midweek with specific instructions. Anybody looking to volunteer for a race should look further along the calendar to see where help is needed... Anyone looking at running I'd say you are getting good value for money with this one, a killer climb (530m over 3k) Blackstairs won't disappoint. Known as the Nephin of the south east it's short sharp climb is a real tester and one of the steepest in Leinster! Then to round things off, the best of Wexford strawberries and refreshments at the finish!...not bad for 7euro, Entries open tomorrow at 9am.
Chloe HayJun 11 2025, 3:22pmHi all,

Just a reminder if you’re looking for a challenging race this weekend this one fits the bill. With an unforgettable downhill and an unforgiving uphill, Blackstairs is for you.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Andy KeelingJun 12 2025, 8:28amAs we pass the half way mark of the season I'd like to thank everyone who has given in gear for our donations at the races. Gear is already getting to people who need it and is very appreciated. I'll be at the South east races on Saturday and Sunday in the Blackstairs if any South-easterners have any unused gear they'd like to donate. Also, the rest of the Leinster league, the big blue bag will be there if anyone has anything to throw in. Thanks guys. IMRA abú!
Brian FarrenJun 14 2025, 6:52pmHi. Just wondering is there an early start. Thank
Derek HayJun 14 2025, 7:30pm***REMINDER*** parking will be tight so I'm just asking people to carpool where possible. Please follow parking instructions from marshalls at Sculloge gap.
@ Brian, theres no early start, it's not possible due to the race length and location of finish line. See you tomorrow!

A super testing fun route.
Paul KellyJun 15 2025, 1:05pmOpel key left in the key bag. If the owner is looking, Lillian D has it.
Sean ForsythJun 15 2025, 2:58pmThanks very much for an absolutely smashing race Derek, Chloe, Jack and team.

Thanks to Sean and Darragh for marshalling. I can't imagine it was a pleasant climb up.

A brilliant course with a bit of everything needed for a decent oule mountain route.
Liam BoweJun 15 2025, 3:41pmThanks Derek and Chloe for getting us all back onto this testing up and down on the Blackstairs after a 7 years break.
Lovely location for the picnic afterwards and thanks for not making us run back down that narrow lane.
Alistair HodgettJun 15 2025, 3:57pm2018's description of this race was "Tough mountain run, rugged underfoot throughout, rocky and summit likely to be under cloud cover." 2025 fully lived up to that with a lot of mountain packed into a short distance. Many thanks to Derek, Chloe and team for putting this back onto the calendar.
Keith CarrJun 15 2025, 4:53pmGreat course. Testing. You certainly got every metre of elevation. Tricky enough on the descent back down. Thanks for the tick advice. May have missed it otherwise. Very friendly atmosphere and the strawberrys were very tasty.
Neil GunningJun 15 2025, 5:26pmThanks to all who organised today - great tough and technical race with plenty of challenge. Great community of people supporting each other as well
madisyn KennyJun 15 2025, 9:27pmThanks Derek Chloe Jack and all the helpers out on the route today. Thankyou for the nice challenging short course route. Thinking about those lovely wexford strawberries at the finish line kept me motivated. They were well worth it .
Derek HayJun 16 2025, 6:52pmThanks to all the volunteers, a small, hardy group of wexford and honorary wexford folk determined to deliver a fun but tough mountain race. Judging from the feedback I think we achieved that! Thanks to all the runners for giving it a lash and putting in some really impressive runs in tricky conditions, well done!

Hopefully we can get it on the calendar again next year! :)

Results have been sent on and will be published in due course.
Jeff SwordsJun 16 2025, 8:37pmThanks Derek for compiling the results.
