Liam VinesApr 19 2024, 3:26pmWe need a strong RD for this event and we need one now. This race is going to need a good deal of work this year.
Route with as little fire road as possible
Backup route in case we never see the sun again
Parking
The list goes on and the race date gets nearer and still no RD..
Come on guys I am asking nicely
Liam
Tim ManganMay 18 2024, 8:21amAny sign of the map for the new route?
Elaine CaseyMay 19 2024, 11:59amIs there an early start for this? Thanks
Niamh O'CeallaighMay 19 2024, 2:17pmSorry, Will try upload the detailed maps this afternoon. There is a screenshot in the photos.
Niamh O'CeallaighMay 19 2024, 8:57pm@Elaine Yes. Early start at 1900
Niamh HattonMay 20 2024, 12:58pmWhat time do you need volunteers to be there at? Thanks!
Niamh HattonMay 20 2024, 12:58pmWhat time do you want volunteers to be there at? Thanks!
Niamh HattonMay 20 2024, 12:59pmoops. Sorry about duplicate message!
Donatas JociusMay 20 2024, 3:25pmJuniors course? For Brockagh?
Niamh O'CeallaighMay 20 2024, 3:37pm@Niamh. Email gone out now with volunteer details. Let me know if you don't receive it. Thank you
Niamh O'CeallaighMay 20 2024, 3:41pm@DONATAS
The junior route is 4.6km with 211m elevations. I will upload a map to the "photos" tab.
Basically it follows the adult route out until both routes take a shart right turn up hill. At the top of this hill, the adults turn left towards Brockagh summit and the juniors turn right to begin their descent.
Conor O'FarrellMay 20 2024, 3:47pmHi All

As well as the standard current laptop and timing on Wednesday, I will also be doing some testing on the new system. While the finished product is a few weeks away yet, I would like some guinea pigs to come and register with the second laptop. There is no obligation to do so, but it would be extremely helpful if we could get a decent cohort of people into this system to stress test it.

Thanks
Conor
Elaine CaseyMay 20 2024, 9:05pm@connor I'll be a guinea pig.

Anyone have a plot my route or something of the run by any chance?
Liam MooneyMay 20 2024, 10:34pmhttps://www.plotaroute.com/route/2626300

Just to note that there will be a bit of heather encountered, it is a Liam Vines designed route after all, so you'd do well to maybe double, triple and quadruple knot your laces...and then maybe stick a padlock on them!
Harriette RobinsonMay 20 2024, 10:49pmHey guys, I'm trying to purchase an entry, the race isn't sold out according to the site (219 tickets sold) yet the event isn't appearing when I click Purchase. Thank you for any help.
Harriette
Chris ChambersMay 21 2024, 9:16amLooks like the event sold out very quickly. I was hoping to run too. If anyone drops out or if a few extra tickets get released I would love to grab one. Thanks. Chris
Brendan LawlorMay 21 2024, 9:23amHi

That last ' imaginary ticket' is a system glitch.. the race is sold out
Tim ManganMay 21 2024, 9:35amNooooooooooo!
That descent is the best.
Eva FairmanerMay 21 2024, 4:42pmI was sure when I checked at the weekend that there wasn't a race limit? I am bitterly disappointed to miss this race, was really looking forward to it.
Niamh O'CeallaighMay 22 2024, 8:23amBrockagh: Final Instructions

1.CAR POOL

2. Look for the IMRA Parking Marshal outside Lynhams in Laragh directing you to the carpark which is here https://maps.app.goo.gl/dhyvG6XHdPG8Akim7

3. Park like a champ. As close as you can to the car beside you. IMRA folk are sound and won't take the side off your car when opening their door.

4. Midgie Repellent

5. It is 1.2km from car park to registration and a further 500m to the start line.

6. Please arrive early as we have a lot of registrations to get through

7. Enjoy the beautiful route.
Niamh O'CeallaighMay 22 2024, 5:22pmTo get to registration, walk up the lane behind McCoys shop in Laragh
Hazel ThompsonMay 22 2024, 6:30pmConsidering the distance from parking to registration, do we have a final decision on mandatory kit?
Brendan LawlorMay 22 2024, 6:36pmJust a jacket tonight
Hazel ThompsonMay 22 2024, 6:50pmPerfect
Alan KennedyMay 22 2024, 11:07pmBrilliant race and organised perfectly Niamh. Liam said in his first post that a strong RD was required for this one and you and your team did a great job. A great running route and surely even Mr.Fry can’t find fault with the minimal amount of fire road this year. What a great downhill and to finish off with Andy on the banjo in the dark forest, yes you had to be there!!
Brian KitsonMay 22 2024, 11:08pmWow! What a route!! Bravo!!!
Tim ManganMay 22 2024, 11:50pmMORE BANJO
Brendan LawlorMay 23 2024, 6:30amBig thanks to Niamh and her team for a fantastic new version of the Brockagh race. I’d say Mikey missed the the aul fire road and ferns forest all the same.

Special word of mention to Niamh’s daughters who were very central to the whole operation last night and to her Dad Diarmuid who was back out racing again.
Joan RyanMay 23 2024, 9:51amThanks Niamh and crew for an epic night on the hills.

One of my favourite routes by far. well organised. And the banjo was just classic.
Elva DonnellyMay 23 2024, 11:24amEchoing the thanks for the surprise Banjo boost towards the end! Possible future add-on purchase with event entry? ;-)

Great route and evening.
Alan KennedyMay 23 2024, 11:42amNo pressure on Brian for PWS!!
Maybe a string quartet in Curtlestown??
Mick HanneyMay 23 2024, 2:31pmNice write up here. https://runrepublic.com/news/new-route-delights-runners-at-imra-brockagh-race
