Kevin ShannonAug 3 2015, 1:35pmWeather isn't being the friendliest this week but as we're only back home from London for a few days we thought it would give it a go!

Appreciate that most people will have work but if anybody fancies a post-work run/walk/slog/battle through bog feel free to come join. We will try to get our support crew to post updates here and/or using #wicklowround on twitter.

Keep your fingers crossed!

We went off at 1am and came in just before 11pm. Total distance covered was 74.05 miles. I have a GPX file which I will upload / share once I work out how to do it.

Thanks for all the good luck messages and well-wishes - it was lovely to see!

In summary the Round was utterly horrendous until Drumgoff. The weather in the night section was howling gale, driving rain and visibility of not much more than a few feet. Oakwood to Drumgoff was in the daylight but the weather was just as bad. We flew off Lugnaquilla to Carawaystick in a desperate attempt to get off the mountain as fast as possible! However, going up Mullacor the sun came out and it remained fairly clear for the rest of the day which kept spirits high. Totally shattered by the end and legs in pretty bad shape now but delighted to have been successful adventure.

It is one hell of a challenge!

By the way, we will have an article on our attempt appearing in 'Ultra' magazine (ultra-magazine.com) shortly which will hopefully help raise the profile of the Wicklow Round and the delights of "trail" running in the Wicklow Mountains. Will let you know when it goes to print.

Thanks again!

Kevin and Mark
Sam ScrivenAug 5 2015, 9:53pmCongrats lads. Nasty weather by the sounds of it. Conditions get harder the later into the summer it gets. I'd say ye'll be finding real wicklow bog and bracken in your gear for weeks. Looking forward to that article!
Rachel CinnsealachAug 6 2015, 12:53amFabulous result, Well done.
Greg ByrneAug 6 2015, 9:17amWell done lads, great effort so late in the season.

Must open the door to a winter Round?
Brían O'MearaAug 6 2015, 4:20pmWell done lads. Fair dues.
Paul MahonAug 6 2015, 9:56pmSuper Round Lads - Certainly not idea conditions in several respects so great achievement for you both :-)
Paul NolanAug 9 2015, 9:03pmBrilliant work, well done.
Jeff FitzsimonsAug 9 2015, 10:09pmFair play guys this late in the year, well done!
Kevin ShannonAug 10 2015, 3:59pmThanks for all the nice messages guys!

I think our route should be available in two parts here (http://www.movescount.com/moves/move71691895) and here(http://www.movescount.com/moves/move71691859). It is in two parts because I accidentally ended the run half way round and had to restart it.

The GPS may be a little off here and there as I had to reduce the signal blips in order to save battery but the general route is pretty obvious.

You will also note that the first section has a lot of "squiggles" in the route - this was because visibility was so bad kept wandering a bit of course!
Brendan LawlorAug 10 2015, 4:05pmWell done lads !
