Kerry Training Weekend

Date:
Saturday 23rd April, 2011
Time:
00:00
Organisers Instructions:
Jason Kehoe and Rene Borg are organising a weekend away for Easter (Friday 22/04- Monday 25/045) similar to the Kerry training weekends organised by Barry Minnock in 2006-2008. We are just finalising the itinerary but the likely setup will be self-catering cottages in Kenmare and the accommodation will cost 50-70 per head for three days depending on numbers. Arrival will be on Good Friday and we will have the option to enter the “Good Friday 5 Mile” (http://www.runireland.com/events/2010-04-02/good-friday-run-2010) in the streets of Killarney in the evening. The weekend’s program will include morning drills/energisers for the early birds and runs up the Carrauntoohil race route, a very scenic long run on the Kerry Way, as well as a run on the Mangerton race route. Days are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Options will be available for lunch and dinner that suit the daily itineraries and we will be within walking distance of Kenmare town centre for “evening excursions”. This weekend will suit runners of all abilities. There is no pressure to do all sessions or follow the official itinerary. If you wish to stay with the group but customise the program to your own needs that’s entirely up to each runner. Likewise, it’s not an officially organized event, just a fun weekend away with fellow mountain running enthusiasts, so all activities are at your own risk and there is no insurance cover provided. If you are interested, please mail me at zarrock60 at Hotmail dot com or text zero85one214541. Once we have preliminary numbers we will finalise the itinerary and will need people to provide us with final confirmation. The booking will need to be locked down within the next few weeks. We expect a group size between 15-25.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
