The second Winter League race is on this Saturday 27th January at 11.00 on Howth Head (remember not Sunday this week). As always car pooling is important for all the usual reasons, including limited parking space as well as minimising the impact on our 'very under pressure' environment. Public transport in the form of the Dart is a good way to get to Howth. Allow 30 minutes to walk from the Dart station to the start at Howth GAA club. (By the way - make sure you get on a north bound Dart for Howth and not Malahide). If you come by car please follow the parking marshals instructions and definitely DO NOT park on the grass at the grounds unless specifically directed to do so. Howth GAA Club have generously accommodated us over the years and we want to keep it that way!! For any newcomers to this great race - to get to the GAA club go either via Howth village (and pick up and hitchhikers from the Dart) or turn right at Sutton Cross if coming from town and drive until you reach the Summit pub. Directly opposite this pub, turn down a small road - to the left if coming from Sutton Cross, to the right if coming from Howth village. About 0.5k down here look out for the entrance to the GAA club on the left. There will be an IMRA sign. Race starts at 11.00 sharp - so registration will close at 10.45 to allow volunteers doing race registration duties to warm up for the race - so be there early to register or sign-on. If its your first ever IMRA race bring a form already filled in to save time (downloadable from the 'Forms' link below and also HERE . ). Also you will need $17 - that's ?10 to register and ?7 to enter the race. If you registered last week all you need is ?7 to enter the race. Please try and bring exact change as it speeds things up. For those of you who would like to freshen up after the race I'm told the changing rooms at the club house will be open and the showers available for use. Prize giving will be in the bar in the club house after the race. See you there.
Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
