This year the MMU will be 2 races combined, a distances 80KM and 50KM with 2 different start times. These will be the Trials for the Marathon and Ultra for the World Mountain and Trail running world championships in Innsbruck, Austria in June 2023.
Both races will start from the Pier Gates Car Park. 80KM route starting at 6:30am to Glendalough and back joining the 50km race that will start at 9:30am.

The route first half 27km of the 50km route: https://www.strava.com/activities/8541917685

The 50KM will be the same route as last year except we will be taking in Djouce going out and on the way back. Starting from the Car Park across from the Pier Gates heading along the Wicklow way, you will be diverted off the wicklow way to Ballinastoe and continue to the gate, where you will meet and be turned by a Marshall.

From there you will head back up the climb the way you came until you meet another marshall who will direct you back on to the wicklow way. Following the Boardwalks, you will continue until you meet another Marshall who will direct you up over Djouce - From there you will descend Djouce and again join the Wicklow way and head in the direction of Crone woods(17km) where you will hit the first Water & Aid Station.

From there you will continue along the wicklow way via curtlestown until you hit Glencullen river - Glencullen Bridge on Boranaraltry lane(27km).

You will then head back along the same route again via Djouce a second time. Wuhu!! This will increase the height to 2,350 Meters similar to the route of the World Championships Marathon race. You will not go to Ballinastoe on the return leg.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
