- Organisers Instructions:
We are delighted to let you know that we have partnered up again with Sarah McCormack and Paul Tierney from Missing Link Coaching to bring you a special challenge, tailored for our membership.
The Challenge A three-week challenge to help you get stronger, fitter and more injury-proof for the 2021 season.
- Each week will include five daily challenges (Monday-Friday):
- One running-based challenge (a traditional running session)
- Two strength-based challenges - sessions focused on strength and coordination for runners
- Two movement quality sessions - focused on mobilising the body to improve movement quality. To aid in recovery from more intense training and help improve posture, balance and range of movement.
The idea behind the challenge is to give runners some new tools for staying healthy and uninjured in the year ahead, by providing a running-specific strength and mobility focus. This content is designed to be useful not just for the next three weeks, but also in the long term, with ideas you can take away to use in future training.
Also, the strength sessions will be tailored to getting the legs ready for some hills, while we will be sure to keep the running sessions feasible whether or not you have hills available.
We hope this challenge will bring some added momentum to your running as we move out of lockdown and towards training and racing on the trails once more.
How to Enter The challenge will start on Monday, March 15th 2021. You will need 2021 IMRA membership and then you can sign up to receive the challenge by purchasing an entry in the online shop for €10.00
Closing date for entries for the challenge is midnight on Saturday, March 13th 2021. Entrants will receive a weekly email providing details of the challenge for each week of the challenge.
Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
