- Route Description:
- This route is brought to us by the legendary John Lenihan, so really will be one for the diary. Some words from the man himself: It's a steep uphill start for 300 meters followed by some good running for the next 2km, from 2 to 2.5 k is a very tricky and steep downhill path with sharp bends, from 2.5 to 3.5 is mostly uphill on a narrow walking trail, at 3.5k runners will encounter the worst hill of the race and while its only about 200 meters long it is very severe and also very slippery to get your footing on it. The running remains tricky and narrow right up to the 4km mark but from here it opens up quite a bit, another severe 200 meter hill at 5 km but on good underfoot surface and the summit of the hill at 273 meters will be reached at 5.5km, a lot of fast surface from here to the finish with the last 700 meters on a fast open forest road.
- Getting There:
- Registration will take place in the Half Way Bar, Ballymacelligott, Q 922-126.

.To get there: take the N21 road from Castleisland towards Tralee and turn right after approx 7 km onto the L2021 road, the half way bar will be on your left after 100 meters. It is suggested that people car pool from registration (2.5 miles if anyone wants to use it as a warmup), as parking can be a problem on a Sunday. The car park is at Q 945-143 and the start is 200 meters south of here at Q 946-1416.
- Organisers Instructions:
- This race is open to all and the cost is €10. There is no online pre-registration available. Please arrive at least 30 mins before race start time to give time for race registration.
If you have already run an IMRA race this year, bring the race number given to you at that race as it is valid for the full year.
However, if this is your first IMRA race this year, you must purchase yearly IMRA membership for €10 per person. Please download the membership form, and fill it out beforehand to speed up registration (they will be available on the day too). You will then be given a race number that is used for other IMRA races this year.
Under IMRA rules for competitors safety, it is mandatory to bring and carry a jacket that is shower and wind proof for the entire race. Any competitor seen not carrying or wearing their jacket at any stage in the race will be disqualified. There are no exceptions to this rule!
Volunteers (Non-Running)
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Volunteers (Running)
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
