Celebrating Our Volunteers

At the annual AGM in 2022, long standing and valued supporter of all things IMRA, Andrew Hanney, raised a motion around volunteerism in IMRA.

The aim of his motion was to promote, recognise and encourage higher levels of volunteerism across the membership. Andrew’s motion was passed and over the following year, the committee put in place several measures to raise awareness around the profile of the volunteers that continue to enable IMRA to be what it is, an entirely volunteer based organisation.

Eoin Keith’s work on the website developed our ‘Hall of Fame’ which has, as a central focus, extensive statistics on the levels of volunteering by all those involved in IMRA. This is a list that everyone either wants to be on, reflected on, or should be on, if they are a member of IMRA.

There is a lot of work done behind the scenes in IMRA that can’t get captured through an overt volunteer credit, but we continue to endeavour to recognise in many ways the value that we place on those that volunteer with IMRA.

Using the statistics available to us, we have decided to recognise those with 50+ non running volunteering credits.
At the time of writing this, there are 23 IMRA members that have hit this noteworthy milestone. You will find this list at the link below from the website.

Over the coming weeks, at races in Leinster and Munster, we will start to distribute specially commissioned t-shirts, image of the tshirts above, to those that have qualified for this recognition award.

On behalf of the committee, I’d like to thank the deserving recipients of these tshirts for their immense contribution to date. There are 28 races left on the calendar for this year. So check your stats and work towards joining this group of 23!
