Crone Maulin Night Challenge

Last night, Friday 15th March, saw the inaugural running of the Crone Maulin Night Challenge, and with it the first IMRA nighttime challenge held in Leinster, Munster being old hats at these types of challenges!

161 hardy souls took part, the first nighttime race for many, and the feedback received was outstanding.

Huge congratulations to RD Alistair Hodgett and his army of volunteers. Without volunteers like these, we would have a very empty race calendar.

Top 3 women were Rebecca Carolan, Aoife McKernan and Orla McEvoy, and Greg Byrne, Liam Mooney and Peter O’Farrell topped the men’s list.

A special word of appreciation to Andy Keeling & Trail Criú who held a gear donation drive at the event, and thanks to all of you runners who donated their spare gear. This is an initiative to make races more inclusive to people who may not have the means to gather the gear necessary and/or mandatory for Mountain & Trail Running. Andy will be at the Maurice Mullins Ultra next weekend for anyone who couldn’t make last night and has gear to donate.

And finally, congrats to all 161 runners who took part. Maulin is a hard place to run at the best of times and to do it by torchlight adds that little touch of difficulty – and magic!
