James SkehanAug 11 2025, 7:50pmHi all,
Does anyone have recommendations for a good quality
Waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams &
Waterproof full leg cover that does it's job, is acceptable as mandatory kit and is easy to pack into a running vest.
Thanks,
James
Andy KeelingAug 11 2025, 8:01pmThe inov8 stormshell is a great jacket. Probably one of the lightest taped seam jackets out there. Pricey but worth it id say. I've also had the much cheaper decathlon taped seam equivalent. Good jacket but less flexible and the zip gave up after about a year.
Andy KeelingAug 11 2025, 8:04pmI have the decathlon taped seam pants too. They're probably the cheapest you can get taped seam on. Same quality as the decathlon jackets but I have only used them a handful of times so they just serve as mandatory kit in the bag really. Hope that helps
Dara O'BrienAug 11 2025, 8:14pmI’ve an Adidas Terrex rain jacket - taped seams and integrated hood, packs down into its own pocket really small and you can pick them up for about €50.

For Irish weather I really don’t think you can go far wrong for that price.

For trousers, I just have the ‘Mac in a sac’ ones - pass inspection, have never been out of my bag and doubt they ever will!

Stuart ScottAug 11 2025, 8:58pmFor those in Leinster, maybe wait until the end of year prize is announced...
Kevin O'RiordanAug 11 2025, 10:19pmWow, what could the end of league prize be? :)

Gore-tex shake dry is pretty amazing stuff though I think they no longer make it sadly :( Colombia outdry is a very similar material though they seem to only do heavier jackets at the moment. We have a couple of IMRA members who are sponsored by Colombia so they'd know more about whether lightweight running jackets will be coming back or not.
Alistair HodgettAug 12 2025, 2:17pmI used to have an OutDry which was superb; I replaced it with the OMM Kamleika Jacket; it's lighter than the OutDry and still very waterproof. After using cheaper waterproof trousers in really bad weather runs (winter rain & wind) and finding that they were more added weight than useful barrier I upgraded to the Salomon Bonatti "pants" which are great. Not sponsored by either of the above companies but open to offers!
