Race rankings early vs late start

Eoin PhelanJul 18 2025, 2:35pmHi All,

I was just wondering about something i came across when checking the race results. Last year when i did an early start in a race, my rank after finishing would be below all people who did the regular start even though I had a faster finishing time. I was told that this was because it was unfair to those in the regular start as I would have nobody getting in my way along the course, bottlenecks etc.
This year however in the Leinster league I am noticing people marked as early start ranking above many in the regular start.
Has this rule been changed this year or is there a mistake in the system when the results are logged. Just curious.

Thanks,
Eoin
Eoin PhelanJul 18 2025, 2:58pman example would be the results from the leinster league church mountain 2024 to either Balinastoe or Carnavaddy 2025. This could impact the overall rankings in the Leinster league if in fact this is a mistake.
Kevin O'RiordanJul 18 2025, 3:07pmNot a mistake Eoin. There was a motion to change the early starter rules at at last year's AGM which got passed. Hence the various early starters appearing above you in the results for Carnavaddy.
Angus TynerJul 18 2025, 3:08pmNot a mistake Eoin. A change implemented following the AGM.
Joseph BoyleJul 18 2025, 3:15pmEoin, the early start is still only recommended for runners regularly finishing over 160% of the winner's time.
