emergency ponchos instead of Rain jackets

| Eoin Phelan | May 27 2025, 6:16pm | Hi, i came across emergency ponchos on line and they are waterproof, compact to the same size as an emergency blanket and cost very little (2 euro). i was wondering if this could be an alternative choice to carrying a rain jacket on the imra events. i understand the need for the jacket on longer races but maybe we could use them on shorter races under 10K such as leinster league races? Many of these races are on hot evenings without a cloud in the sky and i feel it would make life a lot easier as it is very compact. Thought i would throw it out there to see what others thought? thanks, Eoin |

It’s only weight, it can’t kill you and I can’t get much slower anyway. |

My point was that the poncho gives the same protection as the jacket. it would be much easier to carry a compact poncho and an emergency blanket than the rain jacket. |
