Michael Wejchert | Mar 6 2025, 3:21pm | Hey all, Regarding the OS map requirement for level C gear events, can someone please confirm if we need to bring the full OS map, or if a photocopy of the relevant area is sufficient? Thanks, Michael |

No need to carry a full map and have to deal with awkward folding. We'd strongly recommend sealing into a plastic bag, map case or similar, or laminating it. An unprotected sheet of paper will fall apart very quickly if wet. Between that and maps blowing away in the wind, people have become spectacularly lost in the past. Niamh's point about the copyright is valid, but if you make a copy of an area just for yourself for an event, from a map you've paid for, don't distribute or publish etc, you are unlikely to upset any reasonable copyright holder. |
