Harriette RobinsonFeb 19 2025, 8:48amDear Alistair,
Could I volunteer as shadow laptop operator for this race. Harriette
Alistair HodgettFeb 19 2025, 9:24amThanks for volunteering Harriette. I'm still looking for a laptop operator and a few more volunteers....
Alistair HodgettMar 8 2025, 5:54pmThe Night Challenge is now open for entries. If you were there last year, you'll remember how much fun it was. If you are new to running in the mountains at night, here's what a few of last year's runners said:

"A little piece of magic on a Friday night"
"Whole different ball game at night. Great craic."
"Turned off my head torch love running in the moon light."
"With each turn we are greeted with moments of darkness and more stars that you’d see in a year of suburban living."
"One of the punchiest climbs in the country, followed by a fast descent along a ridge that seems to change its spots on the hour every hour, hurtling back along the Wicklow Way towards the finish line."

Note that a headtorch or equivalent will be mandatory kit (any head torch that allows you to see where you are putting your feet will do).
Junior entries are welcome, that’s all runners who are or will be 16 or older in 2025 (i.e. runners in the U18 category).
Alistair HodgettMar 10 2025, 2:55pmI have enough volunteers for Friday, thank you (an email will issue to volunteers in the next few days). There are lots of races coming up including Wednesday nights where it is a big help to RDs to see early volunteers signed up.
Owen FetherstonhaughMar 12 2025, 8:07amHi Alistair, my email associated with my imra isn't available to me, can you please send volunteering details to owenfethers93@gmail.com? I must get it updated on my account
Alistair HodgettMar 12 2025, 5:45pmA reminder that it’s time to get your entry bought as registration closes 6:00pm sharp tomorrow Thursday (there are no late entries or transfers). The current weather forecast is for dry and cool conditions with a full moon which should make for a fun night running the hill.

In addition to the mandatory kit please bring a keep cup or mug as we’re aiming to provide a hot drink at the finish.
Alan KennedyMar 12 2025, 8:59pmLooking forward to it Alistair, one race I regret not being able to make last year as the photos were amazing. And the promise of another clear night, can’t wait now.
Ciaran StaffordMar 13 2025, 2:04pmHi folks,
Would this race be suitable for someone’s first race?
Alistair HodgettMar 13 2025, 2:29pmHi Ciaran, it's a relatively short course at under 8km and easy to follow (no navigation required). There is a climb (of course) and about 1km of rocky trail. Last year we had a large number of new runners and they all made it around and enjoyed it.
Ciaran StaffordMar 13 2025, 4:41pmHi Alistair, thanks for the info. I have signed up and I’m looking forward to it.
Alistair HodgettMar 13 2025, 7:21pmLooking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night. Here's 4 quick reminders:

1) Bring your number (if this is your first race of 2025, you’ll get it at registration)

2) Bring a mug or keep cup as we’ll have hot drinks at the finish

3) Bring the mandatory kit plus head torch and layer up the clothing (weather forecast is for a cool and dry night)

4) Bring yourself - carpool if possible - to Crone Woods car park in good time to register 6:45 to 7:45 and be your usual cheerful selves with the volunteers as they help direct you to park, sign in and register at the laptop

Any volunteers who haven't had an email from me please let me know

See you all tomorrow!
Kevin O'RiordanMar 14 2025, 6:30pmAnyone have a spare headlight? Someone in my car forgot.
Alistair HodgettMar 14 2025, 10:16pmResults are up. Any questions to results@imra.ie please. Thanks for running and enjoy the weekend!
Liam MooneyMar 14 2025, 10:28pmNobody happened to pick up a set of keys in the car park by any chance?
Alan KennedyMar 14 2025, 10:31pmWell done Alistair and team for a fantastic race. What another stunning night for a night race, just perfect. Hot drinks after and chocolate treats were fab. Hope the two fallers I saw are ok and again the best of IMRA stepped up and Dave D and two others stopped to help one of them and Graham B and others were on hand at the finish to patch up. Great community.
Rob TobinMar 14 2025, 11:07pmMany moons ago the only sweating I did around St. Patrick's Day was in The Swan at Stockwell, a late-opening Irish-themed nightclub in south London where soup and sangwidges awaited the few hardy patrons who could last the night. Tonight the full moon was a disco ball suspended over a distant Sugar Loaf, Maulin was our dancefloor, the bouncers were sound, admission a steal at €7, free cloakroom (key box) and when the lights went up at the finish line there was a fine spread laid on for everyone.
Thanks to Alistair and all the crew for letting us do our thing this evening. Lá 'le Pádraig shona dhaoibh go léir.
Ciaran StaffordMar 15 2025, 7:03amI really enjoyed my first IMRA event. I can’t wait to do another one. Thank you to all the organisers
Clare KeeleyMar 15 2025, 7:33amCongratulations Alistair and all the volunteers for another really successful night race! The hot tea and brownie was a great touch, the moon was magic! Thank you!
Keelin HolmesMar 15 2025, 7:47amThank you IMRA, for another great event last night, it was a beautiful night, thank you to all the volunteers for providing lots of encouragement and treats after the race. Thanks Marie for encouraging me to keep going towards end !
Gareth LittleMar 15 2025, 9:02amThat was absolutely brilliant. Fantastic organisation, fantastic conditions and fantastic atmosphere. Well done to all involved.
Anna MichaelMar 15 2025, 4:23pmWell done and thank you to Alistair and all your team of volunteers. Everything was so organised and the course well marked. Running up there under the full moon in such perfect conditions was a bit of bliss.
Liam MooneyMar 15 2025, 7:56pmRound 2 of the missing keys search proved unsuccessful today unfortunately, but I'm sure they'll show up sometime so no big harm. Thanks to everyone who I delayed going to their beds/pints after the race last night and helped in the search and rescue operation for the keys and taxiing about. Much appreciated. Sure we're a great little community and organisation altogether! And for the week that's in it...although I didn't do an official count, I can confidently say that the search party had a female participation rate of at least 50%! Thanks all.
