Conor O'Farrell | Jan 31 2025, 7:52pm | Hi Alll We could do with a few more volunteers for this race. Could we have a few more helpers sign up please? Thanks Con |
Dave Docherty | Feb 2 2025, 5:03pm | Hi All. Bank Holiday heads up race entry opens tomorrow morning at 0900. Page says entry limit "none" but will likely need a limit due to parking restrictions. TBC. |
Dave Docherty | Feb 2 2025, 5:05pm | Also, we could do with a few more volunteers, both running and non-running. Thanks. |
Dave Docherty | Feb 3 2025, 11:39am | Could all runners please consider how they are getting to the race this Saturday. Carpooling is key. Trooperstown is quit a restricted carpark. Get on to your mates, your WhatsApp groups etc...and carpool as much as possible from Kilmac, Roundwood, Laragh, wherever. If you have a spare seat please offer to a fellow runner. If you are new to IMRA, please familiarise yourself with the carpool section on the event page. Leave adequate time to get parked and registered. Also please be kind, helpful and patient with our volunteers. Thanks |
Louis Bussy | Feb 3 2025, 1:14pm | Hi all, New IMRA runner since the Carrick Winter, I’m looking for a seat in a carpool from the Dublin area (currently living in Lucan without car) ! I can join a meeting point cycling or by bus. If you have a free seat let me know. Enjoy your bank holiday. Louis |
Dave Docherty | Feb 3 2025, 2:21pm | Hi Louis. Welcome to IMRA. Take a look at my example on the bottom of the event page, you can use the carpool for lift requests. If someone clicks book, both your contact info will be shared with other. This can be edited on the go via the carpool tab on the main page. |
Dave Docherty | Feb 4 2025, 10:26am | We have enough volunteers for this race now, thanks. Please look at future races, help is always needed. |
Dave Docherty | Feb 4 2025, 10:30am | Folks, can you please use the carpool function on the site, if you have a spare seat make it available. If you need a lift, put it up there. Thanks. |
Fionn Higgins | Feb 4 2025, 9:56pm | Hello, any more volunteers needed? Available if so |
Fionn Higgins | Feb 4 2025, 9:59pm | Apologies, see above now. Disregard above |
Conor O'Farrell | Feb 5 2025, 2:35pm | Hi Louis I’ll be leaving Oldbridge in Lucan at 8am, as I have to get to Trooperstown to open up reg etc. If that suits you, let me know. Con |
Jim Fitzharris | Feb 5 2025, 6:28pm | Hi Dave, James Higgins and I have volunteered for this race. We live close to each other and will travel together. Please bear that in mind when allocating tasks. Thanks! Jim. |
Henny Brandsma | Feb 5 2025, 7:29pm | Hi Dave, I am volunteering for Saturday and giving Gordon and John a lift to Troopestown, could you give me a indication what time you want volunteers at mountain rescue base,so I can inform rest of traveling gang what time I will pick them up. Regards Henny. |
Dave Docherty | Feb 6 2025, 8:07am | Morning. Can we please get all the volunteers to the MR rescue hut for 0900 on Saturday. An email will go out this morning to all volunteers. Thanks. |
Dave Docherty | Feb 6 2025, 10:08am | Folks, race entries approaching 190. I'm back on to hammer home the carpooling. Single occupancy vehicles may be asked to move on and park elsewhere. This is shaping up to be a very busy race. Please be patient and help our volunteers to get everyone to the start line safely and efficiently. Park responsibly and bare in mind that IMRA does not own the carpark. Others may need to use the carpark. The hill to the carpark is also residential access, so let's not upset people and jeopardise future races. |
Louis Bussy | Feb 6 2025, 7:38pm | Hi Conor, Thanks for your proposal but I already have a carpool for saturday's race. Good to know there is an other IMRA membership in Lucan ! Maybe we will make the journey together for an other upcoming race. Looking to meet you in Trooperstown. |
Conor O'Farrell | Feb 6 2025, 10:37pm | Hi All Another reminder, please carpool to the race on Saturday. With 200+ runners registered, parking will be very tight. Also, note that single occupancy cars will be sent on to Laragh to park, and you will have to make your way to registration(1.5km) by foot. So please leave enough time if you are solo. Also, do not park at the forest gate, just up from the Trooperstown entrance. We must leave access to this at all times. This race is at risk of no being held again if we do not respect the locals and general area, so please comply with all parking instructions provided by the marshals. Thanks again Con |
Dave Docherty | Feb 7 2025, 8:14am | Morning All. Final reminder about the mandatory kit: Level B - Standard Waterproof jacket Hat or buff Gloves Whistle Charged mobile phone with emergency number stored Foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions etc., and clearly advised at Registration. You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required. Failure to have the required items may lead to you being denied entry to the race, or disqualification. Random checks may be carried out. Remember this when carpooling!! No mandatory kit - NO RACE! |
Brendan Lawlor | Feb 7 2025, 3:57pm | Hi all We have big numbers racing tomorrow so unfortunately have to send the single occupant cars to Laragh to carpool or park up and jog back to the start ( about 1.5km) The reasons we have to do this have been outlined previously by Dave and Conor but to summarize if we don’t manage the parking well and get complaints from local residents ( as we did a few years ago) this good car park and registration option could be in jeopardy for us, which none of us wants. I’ll be the poor mug on the sharp end of this decision sending those single occupant people down to Laragh so please don’t get lippy or difficult with me but as The Prophet Vines likes to say ‘ be nice and cooperate’ please and thank you ! |
Hannah Gibney | Feb 7 2025, 4:52pm | Hi there, Just wondering was there an email sent to volunteers please? I can’t find one in my inbox :) Thank you- looking forward to it! |
Brendan Lawlor | Feb 7 2025, 5:23pm | Hi Hannah Yes there was.. turn up at 9 at the mountain rescue base and Conor will sort you out with a job |
Peter O'Farrell | Feb 7 2025, 8:13pm | For early season races I wonder how many newer members read the forum? Couls/Should important parking or kit information be a Trooperstown news item on the home page? |

Theo Mooney | Feb 7 2025, 8:44pm | In relation to purchasing a replacement race number, (asking for a friend) can someone tell me.where that option is on the website? It's for the Trooperstown race tomorrow morning. Cheers for all the fantastic behind the scenes work that goes on. :) |
Kate Flynn | Feb 7 2025, 8:56pm | Latest news item should address any questions for new comers! Welcome all, best of luck racing and enjoy the run! |
Eoin Keith | Feb 7 2025, 9:02pm | Theo, There should be an option for buying a replacement race number in the shop now. Thanks for spotting the absence! |

Well marked track and great directions from marshals (I still managed to take a wrong turn in woods though :/). Special shout out to Margo for minding my bag in her car, and to the fastest home Emmet! |
Emmet McNamara | Feb 8 2025, 5:30pm | Thanks Barbara! Thanks also to Theo and Darren who let me keep my bag in their van and were kind enough to give me a spin back to Laragh post race. Such an enjoyable morning, so well organised by all the smiling faces involved, really appreciated the opportunity to take part. |
Niamh Hatton | Feb 8 2025, 5:47pm | Thanks very much to all the organisers and volunteers! Great day for my first race of the season. |
Brendan Lawlor | Feb 8 2025, 6:43pm | Big well done to Conor on a fantastic job as stand in Race Director today. Thanks to all volunteers too especially the parking and route marshals. Great mornings hill racing |
Paddy Doyle | Feb 8 2025, 7:02pm | I'm not sure why but my result is down as DNF. If anyone here can help my actual time was 1:01:56 Thanks. Race number: 607 |
Conor O'Farrell | Feb 12 2025, 3:43pm | Hi Paddy Looks like you were not recorded at the laptop at registration, so you don’t have a course against your name. You need to register on the paper sheets and at laptop prior to every race. Can you email results@imra.ie with your details and Jeff will make the fix for you. Conor |
