Mark McInerney | Jan 5 2025, 11:20am | An exciting week ahead watching the weather forecast and changing conditions in Limerick. Plan on staying down in motorhome in Henry's Motorhome Park if anyone else around for a hot whiskey afterwards in Kilfinane. |
Stephen Brennan | Jan 6 2025, 10:54am | Robbie, I'm wondering whether poles might be allowed in this case given the conditions? Asking for a friend....:) |
Robbie Williams | Jan 6 2025, 1:29pm | Ye can if ye want |
Stephen Brennan | Jan 6 2025, 4:11pm | Thanks |
Gerard Down | Jan 6 2025, 8:08pm | Hi if you still need volunteers let me know - I have an offer of a lift up so as both races are sold out, I ciulkd still do volunteer of needed |
Mark Heavey | Jan 7 2025, 8:00am | Lads is the village even accessible, I've seen photos showing the village and it doesn't seem too good |
Brian Eastwood | Jan 7 2025, 10:15am | My wife's friend was down visiting family and is currently stuck in the family home in Kilfinnan with no esb or water . It's to thaw a bit on Friday but temp only to get up to 3 degrees . There is rain forecast too for Friday morning too. |
Robbie Williams | Jan 7 2025, 11:01am | ATTENTION THIS EVENT IS MOVED TO FRI 17Th January due to weather events beyond our control |
Mark McInerney | Jan 7 2025, 11:25am | Many thanks Robbie, see you next Friday. |
Barry Walsh | Jan 8 2025, 12:16pm | Thanks Robbie, Best decision. May not be able to be answered here but will Sanctuary Runners take road shoes also? I have a fair few pairs in decent condition I'd happily move on. |
Robbie Williams | Jan 8 2025, 12:17pm | Yes indeed Any runners are perfect Thank you |
Lesleyann Wylie | Jan 8 2025, 2:08pm | Is there any possibility there will be many cancellations and you might consider opening up for transfers. I know it's probably a no and that's fine too, but chancing my arm in case of people not making it due to the change of date. Lesleyann |
Robbie Williams | Jan 8 2025, 2:32pm | Again There are ABSOLUTELY NO TRANSFERS If we get a decent few refund requests I will open up a few more spots and will post HERE It will probably be Friday that this would happen for each race (if it happens) So keep an eye on forum as there won’t be any I’d think and same as Home Store & More… …when they’re gone, they’re gone ! Thank you |
Lesleyann Wylie | Jan 8 2025, 6:44pm | Thanks for getting back to me Robbie. I will keep.an eye out in case it gets reopened. |
Robbie Williams | Jan 9 2025, 5:39pm | 50’places will open for CHALLENGE tomorrow Friday at 12 noon and close Monday 12 or as soon as full |
Noelle Foley | Jan 10 2025, 7:39am | Hi Robbie, Registered for the challenge, but as a result of being snowed in All week there is zero running being done!! Is there a chance one could drop to the Dash instead?? |
Robbie Williams | Jan 10 2025, 12:22pm | Yes you can drop down Just can’t go up |
Eoin Phelan | Jan 10 2025, 5:32pm | The Kit says that we need a map of the area + compass. Is this legit as the course is fully marked? |
Robbie Williams | Jan 10 2025, 7:15pm | No you don’t need map etc Fully marked |
Gediminas Daskauskas | Jan 10 2025, 10:02pm | Hi, is there a chance to change from 13k to 28k since new entrys is open? |
Robbie Williams | Jan 11 2025, 12:16am | You can only drop down I’m afraid |
Robbie Williams | Jan 13 2025, 5:35pm | Last couple of spots left for this , closing at midnight or when numbers fill lads |
Michael MC Sweeney | Jan 13 2025, 9:11pm | Hey I did a recce of part of the route today to test it out and it's littered with fallen trees in parts. Just wondering if there will be an effort to clear a path through these before Friday. |
Andreas Maly | Jan 14 2025, 10:48am | Hi, the section up from Glenosheen Village is not passable but maybe it will be cleared there is a road above this section. The last hundred meters down next to the trailraiders is also a bit difficult to pass before you hit the road again. There are some fallen trees on the way down from Seefin but passable except of one what is more tricky |
Robbie Williams | Jan 14 2025, 3:01pm | Ye will have a bit of ducking and diving over and under, nothing ye can’t handle It’s not a road race |
Barry Walsh | Jan 15 2025, 10:14am | Its just au naturel steeplechasing sure. |
PAUL JOYCE | Jan 15 2025, 5:45pm | Hi, any advice on the runner's that would suit the 28km course. Would you get away with road runners or are the trail runners be safer |
Robbie Williams | Jan 15 2025, 6:01pm | Defo want grip. Coming off Seefin would be hazardous in road runners |
Barry Walsh | Jan 16 2025, 10:20am | How's the thaw going up there lads? Sodden or staying firm? |
Robbie Williams | Jan 16 2025, 3:57pm | Small bit muddy with run off but zero snow |
Sam Cronin | Jan 17 2025, 2:18pm | Hi guys, any idea if the IMRA shop tonight would have energy gels for sale before the event? |
Elaine Gamble | Jan 17 2025, 3:16pm | I have loads of hi5 gels. I bring a few extra |
Stephen Brennan | Jan 18 2025, 9:44am | Well done Robbie and team. It was a great event and well worth the trip down. Brilliant |
Conor O'Meara | Jan 18 2025, 12:27pm | Well done Robbie, Edel, David and the extensive volunteer team for an excellent race, setup and organization. My first Munster event in about 10 years, I'll be back for sure. I had to pause towards the top of Benvoughella Hill road to look at the arc of slowly moving head torches traversing the Tipperary glens. Spectacular. |
Raymond Cummins | Jan 18 2025, 2:49pm | Well done Robbie and everyone else who helped out. Thanks everyone. Always one of the best events in the calendar. |
James Heggie | Jan 18 2025, 3:55pm | Well done Robbie great race last night so Well marked it was almost impossible to go wrong . |

Kristen O'Sullivan | Jan 18 2025, 10:20pm | Thanks so the army of volunteers for another great event last night. The course was exceptionally well marked and great to see so many friendly faces sun the route! |

Mariusz Luczak | Jan 18 2025, 11:33pm | Hi Just few photos from the check point at the bottom of Seefin here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/bMA4tPYc716aJxu29 |
Alice Clancy | Jan 19 2025, 10:13am | Thank you so much to Robbie, Edel, David and the superb team of volunteers for such a great night on Friday!!! The events were so well organised, route expertly ‘prepared’ and marked, so cheerfully marshalled and with the legendary Munster hospitality afterwards too!! The Ballyhoura races are such a lovely way to start the year and to try night running, highly recommend these if anyone is thinking about them for next year !! |
Brian Flannelly | Jan 19 2025, 11:53am | Results are now up for this event - any questions/queries on them, please email: brian <dot> flannelly <at> imra <dot> ie |
Brian Mullins | Jan 19 2025, 10:29pm | Jeeeeeesssssuuuussss! I knew they were moving “fairly lively” as the recently departed Jon Kenny would have said but I hadn’t realised the finishing times were as fast as just posted in the results. When I saw the main protagonists float over the top Seefin last Friday eve it looked well impressive and I thought Icarus had finally found the magic recipe for wings and wax. Enda and Cillian did not touch the ground, they were levitating. As for Anita, Ellen and Sorcha it was pretty much the same story. Sub 2 and sub 2.30 is a serious day out. I think everyone in the top 10 of both male and female races need to be ushered into O Ceallachairs immediately on finishing in order to reacquaint them with us mere mortals and offer any elixir possible to slow them down! The state of Irish mountain running is in rude health and it’s only January. Onwards. |
Barry Walsh | Jan 20 2025, 9:53am | As per all above - massive thanks to those that made Friday (and the consistently fantastic) Munster events happen. It was flawless from start to finish. A perfect night for running too reflected in those times! |
Rosy Temple | Jan 23 2025, 7:55am | Hi Robbie and crew, what an epic race! Thank you guys for the fantastic co-ordination from start to finish and afters too. Loved the night time adventure with friendly marshals cheering us on, great course marking and a real buzz at the finish and pub too. Cheers to all! ps. Sorry to be annoying, but I think I left a black LED lenser head torch if anybody has seen it, I can arrange postage. |
