The Leinster Half Marathon wrapped up on Saturday at Mt Leinster with Rory pulling a belter of a run out of the bag to win the race and the League. A win for the old lads!!!!! Aoife dug deep to get the win and be the first winner of the Leinster Half Marathon League. Then yesterday we had the last of the Irish Championship races in Galtymore Everything was up for grabs and the racing did not disappoint. Congratulations to Esther and Matthew on being crowned Irish Champions for 2024. The summer is winding up only one Wednesday night run left and remember its to support the Mountain Rescue teams so even if you can’t make the race if you can please buy a place none of us know when we might need them. I didn’t do a round up of the summer league so much happens so quickly during the summer month’s time just flies by. But it was a cracker of a LL. Between the running field and the parking fields everything just worked. We ran on a few new mountains went back to a few old ones and some of the old relabels are still making new stories which seemed to get told more around the finish lines this year rather than in the pubs. .Were sorta short on pubs!!!. I hope anyone who picked up any injuries along the way are recovering well and will be back in the mountains soon. Well done to Tommy and Ger who ran all 13 races and still get there volunteering in too. And thank you to all the LL RD’s and volunteers there would be no races without you. For anyone who hasn’t bought a membership yet but plans on doing ang of the autumn races or maybe the night challenges wait till after the 15th of September to get your membership. It will be reduced to €5 from the 16th September. We are hoping to see as many of you as possible on Saturday night at the prize giving social. Especially anyone who has wone a prize we might have a new van but we don’t want to be dragging around prizes for the next few months so come and collect…. Now I am off to see how many T-shirts to order… |
