Lillian Deegan | Jul 27 2024, 8:06pm | I’m popping this one up again, last week’s one got lost. We are working on the prep for this race. Basic things to know are: 1. Seehan Forest barrier for the 8am start line - Have all your mandatory kit and be ready to race hard. We’ll stick a tracker on you and let you away off. 2. Sally Gap crossroads - How to get there cross country in the fastest time without adding mileage to your run to meet the cut off. 3. Wicklow Gap car park - How to reach there in jig time again without adding mileage to your run to meet the cut off. 4. Fenton’s Glen of Imaal - The last leg, get there as fast as you can without adding mileage to meet the end of race hot food and race route choice reviewing chats. For this year, there is no need to send through nav pre-entry emails. We are doing this one like the Glaciers. Only hardy nuts will seek this one out to get in. Entry will be €25. We will have a t-shirt for everyone. More on this as soon as I have it ready to share. For those new to Stone Cross - I’ve added a little more information on the Relay page; https://www.imra.ie/forum/topic/id/6872 |

Lillian Deegan | Sep 17 2024, 11:59am | Still seeking help for Saturday folks. No first aider, no race. |
Richard Fox | Sep 17 2024, 5:41pm | Lillian I’m down to run leg 2 for my team. I’m happy to do First Aid if there’s someone else chomping at the bit to do Leg 2. Absolutely no worries as I’ve done a couple of partial recces in wonderful weather and still got lost so I’m happy out. So any potential Leg 2 bods out there get ure name down NOW. What a drag if event couldn’t be held for lack of a First Aider. Cheers foxy |
Gerry McGuinness | Sep 18 2024, 12:05pm | Unfortunately I can do First Aider but could take leg 2 if a First Aider can't be got. Lillian I know the race entries are closed but if it helps let me know as I'll need to arrange with anyone leg 2 runner a car pool. PS , Foxy, hope a First Aider turns up so u don't miss out Regards Gerry |
Lillian Deegan | Sep 18 2024, 12:24pm | Hey Gerry, Thanks for the double offer. Everything got sorted 1st thing this morning. Foxy and Mick H. have hopped in as FAOs to save the day. Massive thanks to the lads here. Solid IMRA go to chaps when all else fails. Plus, Foxy’s Leg 2 slot has a runner dropping from the Solo all fixed up now too. Runners: I’ll be in touch later today with odd race day jazz all going well. Lillian |
Gerry McGuinness | Sep 18 2024, 12:54pm | Glad all got sorted, have a great day for one of the best races on the calendar. |
Lillian Deegan | Sep 19 2024, 10:20am | Morning all, Back with a few odd bits ahead of Saturday. •Sign-in at the barrier will run from 7:15 to 7:45 sharp. •Race will kick off bang on 8am. •Mandatory kit clothing will be confirmed at sign-in. •Trackers will be fitted to your backpack. •Remember to pack water and food. We will have water for refills at the two Caps. Have your own cup/bottle. •Everyone wears their IMRA race No. •Drop bags - you can pack disposable (non returnable) small, tied and clearly labelled (name and/or runner No.) These drop bags will go to CP1 and CP2 and to the bin once used. A dry bag can be sent to the finish line. Again they need to be tied and clearly labelled. At each CP can I ask you to let our helpers know your IMRA race No. as you come in. Our volunteers at both gaps will be keeping a manual time just in case of any device issues. Andy and Emma at Fenton’s will have hot food cooked fresh as you land. Mick H. will be tracking folk and keeping the bar in the loop. And that is it for the mo. Let me know if I’ve missed anything. See you Saturday morning in your best ever go fast legs. Lillian |

Andre Van Barneveld | Sep 22 2024, 11:08am | What a day! The usual tricky conditions that make this race iconic. Thanks so much to Lillian for committing a huge day and also Mich, Foxy and the other volunteers, a huge commitment for a small number of runners mad enough to take this on. Awesome |
Colm Newport | Sep 22 2024, 11:21am | Thanks Lillian and team for another great event. Even the God's of visibility couldn't dampen the spirits!! Great to get lift to Fentons where recovery as always was excellent!! |
Brian Furey | Sep 22 2024, 3:03pm | Thanks to all volunteers and Lilian for organizing the race. The very low cloud made it tricky. We live and learn hopefully! Well down to all who took part. |
Raghnall O'Donoghue | Sep 23 2024, 10:05pm | Big thanks to Lillian, Mick, Foxy, John, Stéphane, Colm and any other volunteers that were not listed. The support at the checkpoints, the chats and chips at the end, the awesome race T....not to forget all those out on the course for the "we're all in this together" mentality. Having the race at this time of year increases the chance of the pea soup conditions that make it such a great day out, where a slip in concentration or a bit of bad luck will set you back at least 10 minutes. It’s the sort of race that makes you run (shuffle) with a smile on your face all day long. I would encourage everyone to try it once, as a relay or as a solo. Get your recce on - you won't regret it! |
Lillian Deegan | Sep 23 2024, 10:42pm | Wrapping up on another mighty SCTL Solo race day. We had a fantastic day out with many of the usual hardy snipers along with a couple of new members hitting this nav. event. Hearty congratulations to our lead man Rory Campbell. Rory ran a super tight, well balanced CP to CP for his food and go go juice managing to beat the 1st Relay team hitting Fenton’s. And that is phenomenal - Rory has alota racing miles in his legs this year - more power to you Rory! Equal special mention to our racing Solo women. We had Avril Challoner take the win here. The women were asked this year to just go for it and race hard and that they did. Kudos ladies! I was really pleased to see Andre do so well. Coming back from injury is just the worst yolk. Having had various injury bothers over the past while he was in to see how he’d get in with this race. He went for it hell for leather having a mini boxing match with himself on the 1st leg rocking into Sally Gap with a fat bloody lip and sore toe. The lip looked shocking, a big ouchie. Sitting in 3rd place and feeling ok, off he went managing to hold his place for a podium spot reaching Fenton’s - Fair dues Andre! Hope the lip is not so ouchie a few days on. From a helper crew perspective, this race is lucky in the greater of things. Year on year we are lucky to get repeat helpers who know precisely what’s needed at CPs. Thanks to John and Stephane and Mick Hanney for taking care of the CPs & FA needs at the finish for us. And thanks to Finn Goggin (With Collie being a super early bird for reg and race time for the all day gigs, we get Finn as a courtesy on the help front. Cheers Finn (Colm). And lastly, the savage Foxy. Richard saved the day giving up his Relay spot for the event to go ahead - the WhatsApp group say you’ll not haft to put your hand in your pocket for a long time. You’ll be tipsy on the thoughts of it :) Primal Tracking (thanks for the remote minding of us Rowan) did a few tidy ups for me yesterday. We picked up on a few mini errors on the Solo & Relay where racers did not hit every CP bang on. With the mist/ low cloud cover, we have decided as these errors are not huge and they do not change the finishing order, therefore results will stand. Jeff got the results for publication earlier today. He’ll get round to getting them up as soon as he can. Fingers crossed SCTL gets a slot on the 2025 calendar and hot food from Emma & Andy at Fenton’s. |
Jeff Swords | Sep 27 2024, 11:24am | Results updated with those that were missed first time around, any other issues with them drop me a mail at IMRAResuts at gmail dot com. |
