Robbie Williams | Apr 28 2024, 9:43pm | Note to all Irish Championship Runners. Due to certain constraints with access etc, the Carrauntohill route has now changed and has been reinvented as a full proper open mountain route. The new route will follow the Cronins Yard Trail to the highest point and then access the Bone via a grassy bank with steep climbing. There is some rocky terrain with some work for the hands also. You will top out on Maolan Buí, and then follow the ridge to Cnoic na Chuillin, Cnoc Na Toinne and on to Carrauntohill itself and return via same route. The estimate is that this will add 30min to elite times and 1 hour to mid pack times. Please look at event page and event page map for more info. This route brings Carrauntohill back to where it should be rightly, as one of the ultimate challenges of Mountain running, as part of the Irish Championships. As before, the weekend will include, Reeks Skyline, Vertical 800 and Cronins Yard loop. Thank you. |
Barry Walsh | Apr 29 2024, 5:11pm | Different beast altogether - looking forward to it. Are the zig zags a concern re: erosion etc? |

Anthony Forristal | Jul 10 2024, 10:05pm | Hi, just noticed the event page says starting at 1300, but the IMRA munster Instagram page says 12pm, wondering which it is, thanks. (12 suits better!) |
Robbie Williams | Jul 10 2024, 10:11pm | Apologies It’s 1pm |
Barry Walsh | Jul 11 2024, 12:09pm | Cant wait for this. Any idea how it is underfoot in the lower sections, sodden? |
Joan Ryan | Jul 11 2024, 2:58pm | Barry, I was up there this Monday and the ground was a little wet but not bad at all. |
Dáithí de Mórdha | Jul 14 2024, 10:02pm | Holy sweet mother of devine intervention that was tough! But what a great course. Another brilliantly organised event, fair play to Robbie and all the volunteers who made this past weekend the best yet. I can only imagine the work that goes into it. Thanks a million to everyone! |
Robert Moore | Jul 14 2024, 10:57pm | “Holy sweet mother of devine intervention that was tough! “ Couldn’t have said it better, Daithi. Epic run, incredible scenery, for the little I could see through a salty brow. A special note goes to organisers, who provided stability, encouragement , and note of constant positivity when the orchestra of doom bellowed the relentless advance of another climb. I will be back, post therapy |
Eoin Mac Mahon | Jul 15 2024, 10:30am | Thanks Robbie & Everyone for another classic weekend. Massive shout out to the Dublin lads for starting all the fires and giving me "Buckfast" it's literally a tonic. |
Connie Dottino | Jul 15 2024, 8:02pm | Thank you Robbie for organizing such a great weekend and thank you to every volunteer and every marshal that spent hours out there encouraging us along the way and waiting for all the runners to get back safe. |
