REBECCA CAROLANApr 26 2024, 11:31amGreg, Happy to be a run volunteer if you need help beforehand? Just love to run it this year!
Diarmuid DoyleMay 1 2024, 4:11pmIs this going ahead ? When does online entry ope please ?
Greg RobinsMay 2 2024, 8:01amHi folks. We have Fingal approval so this race is defo on and entry will open in due course. There are some other races to get through before that.
<P>
Thanks Rebecca I'll accept your offer although I think we're getting to the point of enough volunteers. We could do with support on the laptop so I'll be looking for someone to do that.
Miriam MaherMay 2 2024, 8:34amHi Greg, I've put myself down to shadow Kevin on the laptop.
Alan AylingMay 2 2024, 9:57amLow tide for Skerries on 8th May is 18:01. Won't need the scuba gear this year.
Greg RobinsMay 3 2024, 12:05pmThe Laptop Operator spot opened up again so anyone trained/experienced is invited to volunteer to support Miriam who needs to leave after the race.
Peter DoyleMay 4 2024, 9:42pm@Alan - I'm race marker so can arrange for the turnaround flag at end of beach section to be out below the tide line if public demand is for the full "immersion" experience again this year :-)
Peter DoyleMay 6 2024, 10:47pmWith Ardgillan race fast approaching the finishing touches to this years route have been made.
Much the same as last year with some changes made to add in extra trail sections and remove sections that have been recently been replaced by tarmac.
An updated map will be added to event site in due course
For those that have run in previous years the main difference will be towards the finish where there will be an uphill section on grass, a flat trail 300m section thru trees to point where finish line was in previous years but then an extra 300m fast trail section extending beyond to new finish line. So save a bit for your sprint!
Long course is 9K
Short course & juniors 5.5K - finish line for this will be same as long course and not on beach as per previous years.
Hope to see a good turnout as weather looks promising, Should be a good night in Man O War afterwards for prize giving.
Mark LawlessMay 7 2024, 9:53pmVolunteering for the first time tomorrow night, just wondering what time to arrive?
Greg RobinsMay 8 2024, 6:29amIt's race day!

Please will all volunteers check your email (incl spam) for the route plan and roles+tasks I sent out last night. No need to print as I will have final revisions for you at the volunteer briefing at 6pm.

Some of us will be there at various times over the day and from 5pm onwards, so come early and enjoy beautiful Ardgillan. It looks like it's going to be dry with light winds (I hope I haven't jinxed it).
Rob TobinMay 8 2024, 9:49pmHow lucky are we all to have tonight's race results up within an hour of leaving the finish line? The gates of Ardgillan have hardly closed and the results are up! Fair play Jeff and Miriam, you're playing a blinder.
Thanks to Greg, Andreas and all the team who pulled together another great edition of the Ardgillan race. A few steady climbs to give us the measure of our hill legs and lungs. I particularly enjoyed the twisting mucky trail just below the house, the one with the fallen tree trunks and the rubber mat!
Derek O'BrienMay 8 2024, 10:37pmThanks to all the volunteers and especially Greg, Peter and Andreas. Brilliant course that’s getting better every year, results up straight away. Thanks again
Richard KieranMay 8 2024, 11:33pmThanks to all the volunteer team for a great race, I had to rush off afterwards so didn’t make it the pub but you all did a fantastic job - professionally organised event with trademark IMRA warmth and friendliness - what a brilliant community to be part of, thanks :)
Gavin DunneMay 9 2024, 6:19amReally enjoyable race and so well run. Thanks to all the Volunteers. Great to see results up so quick too.
Phil behanMay 9 2024, 8:15amThanks Peter and to all the volunteers last night. Raheny Juniors loved the course and a great route for us to introduce our juniors to the trails. Thanks again.
Richard LeahyMay 9 2024, 9:03amWell done to Greg and the team for a well organised gallop around the park. The tweaks to the route were a plus, but you need to improve the scheduling for next year to bring back the water feature. :-)
Brendan LawlorMay 9 2024, 9:19amCongratulations to Greg Robins on his debut as a Race Director.. sounds like it went great so well done to you and your team!
Joan RyanMay 9 2024, 12:43pmThanks to the Race Director and all the volunteers.

Wasnt sure what to expect having never been out this way for a race.
By far one of my favourite races. There were so many twists and turns in and out of woods back in the woods. Out on the grass. Onto the beach. It was absolutely brilliant and the weather was perfect.

Everyone was so friendly and there was a great atmosphere.
Greg RobinsMay 9 2024, 3:38pmCongrats to the all winners on the third successful running of the Ardgillan trail race. We saw some super performances on a very tricky course to navigate. Without exception all runners finished on empty with the tough extra bit at the end completing a real test of fitness and ability on an 'easy' grade 4 trail race.

Heartfelt thanks all the IMRA and friends and family volunteers dotted across the course, the start:finish and parking and stepping up on the day. Take a bow volunteers and helpers - you didn't miss a beat and we hope you'll all be back next year.

We had also had great support from the Ardgillan park rangers and special kudos to Deputy RD Andreas and Course Marker Peter whose calm last minute tweaks allowed us to start almost on time. I know you're already scheming of ways to make it tougher next year.
Jim DurhamMay 13 2024, 4:53pmI've uploaded a few more photos taken by Ladies' Stairs bridge. Unfortunately, it wasn't the brightest part of the course but I was stationed there.....
