Bike bus

Rob TobinApr 15 2024, 8:40pmWhat's even better than carpooling to IMRA events, you ask? How about a bike bus... coming to a crossroads near you!

The bike bus is a great way:
- to meet fellow IMRA members;
- to minimise the environmental impact of our journeys to events;
- to get your pre-relay warm-up done on two wheels.
- to cycle together safely into the near hills and hopefully build confidence cycling.

The bike bus is ideal for you if:
- you've ever thought about cycling to an IMRA event but felt a tad bit nervous about cycling on public roads.

The bike bus might not be for you if:
- you're looking to show fellow IMRA members that you're ready for the Tour de France.

This coming Wednesday 17th, the bike bus will collect along a route from Dublin city centre to the Killiney Hill Charity Relay, aiming to reach Killiney in good time to lock our bikes, complete reg and partake in some pre-relay banter.

The bike bus's route and timings will be coordinated via WhatsApp . Anyone who's interested in joining please get in touch - Oh ate 7, won 7, for tutu ate five. Depending on where people are travelling from we may arrange to have an additional bike bus starting from Dalkey DART station and maybe other alternative routes, all leading to Killiney.

The Killiney venue is among the most accessible on the calendar for those travelling on two wheels. It's only a pedal's stroke for many of us travelling from Dublin and coastal north Wicklow. So don your helmet and your hi-viz vest and join the bike bus!
Andy McGeadyApr 18 2024, 10:46amHey Rob - how did this go last night?

A few bike buses would be very cool for the Low Carbon race (June 15th).
Rob TobinApr 18 2024, 2:17pmHey Andy. There's been good interest in joining the bike bus and early in the week it looked like we might have 12 wheels for Killiney Hill. Weather and other commitments played a part but a good few members did cycle up in the end.

It would be good to keep this going and hopefully build momentum towards the Low Carbon race at Ticknock on 15th June. Possibly the races at Howth, Scalp and Prince William's Seat too. I can update this thread nearer the time of those events and anyone interested in joining can reply here or get in touch directly - my mobile number in the original post.
Louis MulleeApr 23 2024, 2:09pmAnyone interested in organising a Bike Bus to Belmont this wednesday?

Belmont is an 18 minute cycle from Bray Dart station or a 13 minute cycle from Greystones!
