Liam VinesMar 28 2024, 3:04pmHi All just a bit of information kinda like a day in the life on the IMRA committee.
We had to take a race off of the calendar this week Aderin clear Lake was due to be on the 5th May in the Slieve Blooms.
The Hen Harrier is a ground nesting bird that likes to hang out in the Slieve Blooms and nests between April and August.
This is the kind of information that comes to light as we apply for permits from Coillte and the NPWS. It’s information we have to act on to do our part in looking after our countryside.
All things environmental and ecological are making the organising of all our races tougher and tougher each year but we are working with all these organisations as closely as we can to ensure we are able to race in the mountains long into future.
But on this one the Hen Harrier wins out and we will leave them to do there thing..
Will see about rescheduling it into the Autumn.
Liam
