Support for race day laptop operators.

| Jeff Swords | Feb 19 2024, 7:05pm | Hi all, With the view to contributing towards resolving the perennial issue of race directors not being able to get laptop operators well in advance of race day we received a worthy suggestion to set up what’s essentially a support group on WhatsApp. It should be first pointed that the RaceDay app is pretty solid and easy to use. If you were to have an issue that you couldn’t figure out there’s enough fallbacks to prevent there being no results at the end of the day, there’s always paper. The idea of the group is that queries and issues related to the role of laptop operator that may arise pre, during and post race can be shared on the group with solutions and guidance provided. It can then be the driver for a FAQ and added to the existing laptop operator guide (if it’s not already covered there). It will also double up as support. Usually there’s someone who’s pretty experienced with the system registering for a race anyway who can be asked for guidance on the day, but if not, the group is there to throw queries into and hopefully get a quick response. A session or two of shadowing someone should be sufficient to take it on yourself so if you’re on the fence you know what to do.
